The 3 Worst Things About Being a Content Creator #what

Being a content creator isn’t all highlights and viral moments—there are parts of the journey that are genuinely challenging. Income can be unpredictable, especially in the beginning, with peaks and valleys that make financial planning tough. Brand deals, while lucrative, often move slowly with delayed payments, long negotiations, and changing expectations.

But for creators who have a message that matters—something truly valuable to share—the rewards can outweigh the struggles. The ability to connect, inspire, educate, or entertain at scale gives this path meaning that goes beyond just money. When the content has purpose, the effort becomes worth it—even on the tougher days.

The monthly doesn't matter as much as the yearly. I've seen some content creators have a month of making $10, 000-$20, 000, a few months of $1, 000-$2, 000 and 1 to 3 months of zero income all in the same year. You can't budget off of your income when it's so spotty, you have to budget based off how much you need to survive, and have a far savings account to hold the money from months of excess to make up for the months of little to nothing.

As a frequent consumer of content one of the worst things to me is the change that comes after "success" you get hooked on a personality and you want to see your creaters go far but then sometimes theres this change like they get better stuff yeah but they change the way they speak their personality...its just not quite the same

Crazy to complain about making almost 9000 in a month. I get why it might not be ideal, but that typically comes from living too big for your britches🤷‍♂️

I was considering one that documents my journey with the MAID program in Canada but in an amusing factual manner that matches my personality. I see the doctor tomorrow to start my application

Not forgetting those who sell out and promote brands that have no benefit just to make a quick buck...

As an autistic adult, undiagnosed until age 31 - now age 44, I briefly thought of doing content online to support myself since people like myself are banned from being included in society and the workplace. And our government is hell bent on using disabled people as a scape goat for more cuts and more right wing votes. To hell with how we would survive of course.
But I gave up on the idea because I cant stand being the centre of attention. I wouldn't be able to cope with it.
I tried streaming over a decade ago but had to stop because of how anxious I became.
Now at 44 I still have no idea how to financially survive. I don't know what to do. And that terrifies me.

Lmao complaining about one of the most easy jobs is wild ngl like you’re a literal doctor. We all know all jobs have downsides but with content creation you get to choose your work hours if you need a break etc. with a regular ass job it’s different. I’m not tryna belittle content creators but you could at least call it what it is. Easy. Just like being a home health aide to my guys. I literally tell people I wipe ass for a living but 90% of my job is watching tv 💀
