He was my uncle, mom’s brother. He really was a tough guy, seemed like everyone loved him, he was a great actor and a wonderful brother to my mom. Thanks for doing this piece on him, I actually learned some things about his life

Few will argue that his portrayal as Falconetti in Rich Man Poor Man made him the most terrifying villain in television history.

I did'nt know he was that talented, talk about multiple lives, he had the skills for 5 people all together. He looked tough all the time, really nice to know he was a kind and intelligent man. RIP Bill.

A true legend. Every single actor playing a bad guy in movies should both learn, and pay tribute to this guy. He was the best of the best.

You know it ain't fair for one man to be so great looking, perfectly built and extremely intelligent in one package. Makes us mere mortals jealous. Was one of my favorite actors especially westerns.

It was because of William Smith, that my friends and I started lifting weights, back in the mid 70's! RIP William Smith! You were an inspiration to many!

William Smith was an icon in the film industry. Not only his acting and physical presence, but he was brilliant. He wrote beautiful poetry, spoke so many languages, and could be intimating and inviting all at the same time. He is sadly missed.

I met Bill Smith when I worked at Pep Boys in the late 70's. He would come in and buy his parts from me. At first I was intimidated because all I had seen was his tough guy on screen persona, but he really was a nice guy in person.

This guy was a real pro... I met him in my gym in Marina del Rey, California. Sweet as hell guy. Quiet and friendly. He had a jock sense of humor.

His fight using a chain whip against David Carradine on Kung Fu was a classic scene.

Always considered William Smith one of Hollywoods true "Tough Guys". His eyes said it all; intelligent, talented, and not one to be trifled with. His kindness reflected his self assurance and confidence, with a physique and fighting skills to back it up. RIP Cowboy.

In Red Dawn I was amazed by how well he spoke Russian. I did not realize that he was fluent in it. Great actor. RIP
