a zipper foot actually changed my life when it comes to sewing in the busk ngl, it makes it 1000x easier

Heads up, a wooden busk in your stays will help a lot with the the curving front! Without one I have the same issue as you. Loved the video, looking forward to future episodes!

Funnily enough because of my figure, 1880s corset and 1740s stays have a very similar silhouette for me haha! Only thing I need to do is wear my stomacher (fully boned with busk) over the top of the Victorian corset and all my 18th century stuff fits over it. Weird coincidences!

When it comes to stays, usually if you don’t have someone to lace you into them, usually you would have lacing on the front and back. This allows not only for large adjustments but also allows for someone to lace themselves into them. Usually back lacing only stays are for people who can be laced into them by someone else.
If you decide to make them again, I def recommend a pattern that lace in the front and in the back. (If you haven’t tried this already)

would it be possible to add a busk to stays? Like a victorian style one, as an alternative to a zipper
