Fender Custom Fat 50's Pickup V.S Stock Pickups

Guitar: Mexican 60's reissue (year 1999)
Amp: Fender Vibrolux

I watched the video on my phone originally. After watching it on my home computer with better speaker's, I have to say the Fat 50's definitely sound fuller, really nice tones.

To be honest....I thought they both sounded pretty good. I actually kinda liked the stock set.

In my opinion Fat 50's sounds more clear on the high frequencies but i hear some muddy tone too in the low freq...

Need to try with some distortion too and play with the volume/tone to get a fullsome review. At low volumes, you can't really tell the difference.

I have 69s in one strat and fat 50s in another, my fav is fat 50s by far

I think it is a problem to record this with an iphone, if you want hear the difference. The Fat50s have more mid tones and sounds more expensive like a real Fender with that typical clean sparkle. I had a Fender Mexico Strat and i realized, that the pickups are ceramic ones and they sound cheap. A Squier Classic Vibe Strat e.g. has Alnico 5 Pickups and sounds definetly more like a Fender.

The same pickups! Look at the bridge pickup with rails in each.

I'd prefer the Classic 50 pickups it has more snappy biting end sound compared to the Fat 50's

Sounds good with either but Fat 50's are more articulate and have better tonal balance, at least to my years.

there is a difference but only small the fat 50s sund more clearer but the stock pups do still sound good

Give me my $150 Affinity Strat with a $99 set of mim pups, a 5watt Tube amp, maybe a $20 Behringer Overdrive, Ill give ya Clapton, Hendrix, SRV, Buddy Guy and John Mayer. Gear snobs, new pickups don't make ya better!!!
