Crazy how peak this figure would have been with a ball jointed waist

I'm team butterfly joints (I use the back sides often for action poses) but they can be done better than this. If they can't, then sculpt wins. The waist here kills the figure for me.

Given he is wearing armor, I think Iron Man doesn’t need butterfly joints. Characters like Spider-man can use them, or characters like Warbird, where they can hide them in the design, that’s great too.

I love butterfly joints if they're done like the s.h figuarts ginyu and super boo where it extends and doesnt break the sculpt. Characters like hulk NEED the butterfly joints to make poses like the clap

I'm not only on team "only use a butterfly join when necessary and only if it's cut properly" but I'm also starting to lean towards "single-jointed figures can function just as good and even look better than double-jointed figures when executed well." I recommend taking a look at the Black Series Ki-Adi-Mundi, Assajj Ventress, or select others from the line. Even Hasbro can do it!

The fact that the figure ships with the neck reversed is *heinously* hilarious, being consistently witnessed across seven unboxings/reviews before getting to this one.

Dude the plastic they used on the shins is what they should have used on the hands you stick the effect on.

Butterfly joints are done pretty darn good on Joes. No idea what the ML team is doing .. so yeah, if it makes sense do it but if bit then just make the sculpt look better

Anthony, I have always considered myself a pretty big fan of a great chest. Watching one of your Marvel Legends videos is a stark reminder that greed is more prevalent in product design than common sense. At Hasbro, greed must be part of their culture. A 7/10 Iron Man in 2024 is unacceptable as a collector. Thanks for your review on this one.

There's no issue in his chest size. The design is narrow and almost flat. That's how it looks in the comics, it's not supposed to look bulky. The sculpt of the armor is almost perfect (minus the hidden small shoulders).

A few years ago, I'd've said I'd rather have the butterfly joints at the sacrifice of sculpt. But recently, I've changed my out look on figures, so I'm okay with less articulation if the figure is still pleasing to look at

I think the hard thing with getting a butterfly joint right is that it's an extension of the pecs. So it is tucking inside the chest rather than flexing underneath the surface and stretching with extension. So for it to be done right, they might as well reserve it for characters that really need it. I don't have this figure in hand yet, but I do see how unnecessary that joint is. This and Extremis are my favorite armors, but I really didn't expect either to be done perfectly by Hasbro.

I want butterfly joints on every figure idc it just feels like I’m getting more for my money. And his chest only looks small if you assume his pecs end at the butterfly joint line but I don’t think that was the intention the butterflies are part of the pecs

Glad I watched this video before buying this figure. The repulsor/wrist problem definitely kills it for me. You can't have Iron Man with that. Thanks for posting.

I did not like the wrist armor blocking a good ruplosor blast pose. I tried to pose the one I got shooting them but it looks terrible because his hands are stuck shooting down

Speaking of pinching, old ML Nick Fury/Dugan that was on Toybiz Punisher mold is really good example of proper pinching and leg and arm muscle sculpt despite outdated articulation engineering.

I like this figure and I can get past most of the other stuff but the waist joint makes me mad. And even worse is the fact that Iron Men haven’t had waist joints in years so when consumers complain about this they won’t make it better, they’ll just go back to not having one at all.

From what I heard, in one of the podcasts, apparently the lower torso was supposed to have a ball joint. Something changed or the factory didn't take it into account and we got what we got.

This is also Model 24 armor, not 20. Classic Hasbro 🤌

I love how bulky and heavyset this Ironman is especially his legs. He also looks very menacing of his design. Personally I like the butterfly joint and I don’t think his chest is THAT tiny. My only complaint is I wish there was a black outline tonnage it pop out. Overall I recommend it
