I have been following this man's journey for many years. I hope one day he and the rest of Egypt can finally be free.

The Egyptian mission to the United Nations in Geneva announced its rejection of the statement issued yesterday by the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights regarding the case of an Egyptian citizen who has been tried, convicted and is currently serving his sentence, and calls for his release. The Egyptian mission stressed - in a statement - that the content of the Commission's statement deliberately undermines the independence of the judiciary and the rule of law as an indispensable cornerstone for the protection and promotion of human rights, and considered describing a judicial decision as "unfair" an unacceptable insult.
The statement of the Egyptian mission said, "The issuance of this statement by the High Commissioner for Human Rights violates the principles of impartiality and objectivity enshrined in the General Assembly resolution establishing his mandate and addresses an individual issue on a selective basis, which increases doubts about its objectivity.. Furthermore, it appears that the High Commissioner has relied on Unsubstantiated information derived from sources promoting false allegations." The statement added: "The fact that the High Commissioner issues final statements portrayed as facts without any evidence undermines his credibility and that of the institution he represents on behalf of the international community."
The mission concluded its statement by saying, “We expect the High Commissioner, as an international staff, to respect his mandate and demonstrate professionalism at the start of his tenure and to rely only on reliable sources of information in the future and to refrain from commenting on cases tried before Egyptian courts and judgments handed down in an attempt to advocate violations of laws. Nationality”, calling on the High Commissioner to focus on promoting and protecting human rights through cooperation and dialogue.

I wish activists would protest in the nation they are protesting for...they go to a safe country and raise hell to get attention. Everybody else has to endure the calamity.

Sanaa we're all proud of you. Alaa must be free, along with thousands of political detainees. his trial is unconstitutional and simply fraudulent. No case files for the defense? This is a circus, not a court!
Stay strong.
