Maybe the extra time was to make sure Grimes and Guiton meshed and would work well together.

At the end of the day there is so much information we don't have. With just the final result I'm not ecstatic about any hire. However, I do like going with younger coaches and promoting from within. One of the questions you are supposed to ask in an interview is what happened to the guy before me. Hearing they got promoted internally is normally a good sign.

Silly to stress over. Of course they tried to get the best person they could for the spot, probably why it didn't happen immediately. That right there should indicate they gave it proper consideration. The dude is liked, played QB at OSU, and can recruit...seems like great potential for a QB coach/recruiter. Not like they're promoting him to OC here.

Ryan? Wasn't Guyton a QB at Ohio State? I love his enthusiasm and passion.
MY THOUGHTS: I was dissapointed that the media and even my fellow fans are so negative! How Guard is treated by fans was amazing for me to read/hear..I really like what Luke and Greg have done in the portal. Hoping for better days for the F Ball program.

I don't think Fickell was permitted to do a "Deion Style" bloodletting when he arrived in Madison - even though that is exactly what was needed.

Kenny guiton is a solid hire. that will pay off dividends. he can coach WR or QBs. he's a solid coach and motivator. I love that hire.

Guiton also named assistant coach. This shows the trust Fickell has in him.

I think our qb play with the two portal guys will be much better in 25’. Add another receiver or two and get the running game going and we got some mojo again on offense. That’s encouraging.

Well, Michigan gave Jim H. multiple years to get results, so I guess I should give Fickell a couple more years at least. Hopefully progress will be evident next season although the schedule is brutal again. I like most staff picks and the players he’s brought/bringing in. So, although frustrated it didn’t go better his first two years still optimistic.

Is QB coach considered a promotion from WR coach? I looked at it as a lateral move, maybe even a slight demotion. Grimes should be the one working primarily with QBs as that is the position running his offense.

The coaching staff has been upgraded massively on offense. I don’t think Tressel is the answer on defense, but he had little to work with last year. Defense needs to significantly improve or send him packing after next season.

fickell rolled the dice. he will get there. be patient. I'm sticking by my prediction that Wisconsin makes a deep playoff run in 2026.

Some coaches can teach; some coaches can recruit ; but not too many can do both effectively .

Ok Curtis. So criticize Chryst for hiring within, having position coaches that are outside their normal position, etc. bad.
Fickel does it, good.
Come on man.

Curtis, we hired plan D. A, B, & C bolted. OMG.

With Longo gone, at least the Offense will be better. Longo could not adjust his scenes to fit the personnel he had to work with.

Ryan is concerned with the Guiton hire so it’s a home run. QB1 will probably end up all BigTen.

Disagree that you hire people that you think will stay. You gotta hire the best guys and if they get promoted elsewhere after being succesful, then so be it. That's what you want: success. If they're not, then they won't be hired away...but, uh. Guess I'm agreeing with Curtis
