I understand that this is a business, and Dubai pays the bills. Having said that, being forced to watch this event vs the incredibly high event and exciting Canadian SAIL GP makes me so sad that we don't get to see another one in Halifax this year

While I was watching the first race two flies landed on my lap top and proceeded to walk faster than the boats across the screen. So damn exciting...those flies. Dubai, plenty of cash, no wind. Bad idea Russell Coutts.

Going where the big money is compared to going where the wind is, if I have trouble sleeping I’ll pop this on

Thank goodness I can fast forward the recording!

The announcer and results overlay at 1:42:50 are wrong. The points totals shown after race 3 actually only count the points from races 1 and 2. I think the corrected final points and standings after 3 races is:
1) Aust 24 pts
2) NZL 23 pts
3) USA, CAN, GBR (tie) 18 pts
6) SWI 17 pts
7) SPN 16 pts
8) GER 15 pts
9) DEN 7 pts
10) BRA 6 pts
11) ITA 3 pts

You know at the time I complained about being soaked and freezing for the Canadian GP but at least there was wind. Funny that we have a team and no race considering Dubai has no team and apparently no race either.

Whatever revenue is generated by Dubai hosting is thrown away by it being such a terrible showcase for the sport. Launch the season somewhere with reliable wind and stop risking losing fans (and their money).

Where are the comparison numbers; meters or time behind the leader? Why don't they show the VMG? I can't tell how well the teams are doing.

Can we have a sound track without the ‘commentary’ so we can just watch and listen to the crews

Wow what an amazing, incredible, exhilarating opening spectacle! I'm still on the edge of my seat. Be still my rapidly beating heart.😂😂🎉🎉 Get that oil money and get going to somewhere with, what's that thing called??? Oh yeah WIND 🌬️🌬️🌬️🌬️ 🎉🎉🎉

Did the SailGP crew go on vacation at end of last season and decide to just wing it for this race? There were so many things wrong they can’t be listed. After race two standings had Canadian flag for Australia, tons of talk at end of race two about the pressure to finish before 16 minute cutoff and no time on the screen, in all races after the first boat rounded a mark that was the end of the coverage for that mark, wind overlay disappeared for third start, didn’t even show all the boats finish 3rd race and the standings at end of the day were all wrong. That’s just off the top of my head, lots more. And all while trying to promote as a premier sports event “racing” in a region that seldom has wind - I worked offshore there for 6 years. I can’t believe Canadian race got dropped while there are 3 events in this region.

Those light wind races are so fascinating! You really have to know what you’re doing in so many aspects to get anywhere…. and I love that Switzerland ROCKS! 😃👏😃

Even though the winds were light the racing was still awesome!! Thank you Sail GP

Please focus on the race while it is running. You can focus on the winners after all the boate are over the line. PLEASE

Low wind racing really is a different beast

Well that was a refreshing thing to see the USA boat not in tenth. I think the new livery is really nice looking.

where real sailing is happening: More than 2 million people have come to the Vendée for attend the start and finishes of the 2016 edition. :-) this year it was a huge crowd as well

@SailGP
The points totals on the leader board displayed at 1:42:21 are wrong!!
The points earned in Race 3 were not included. Use a spreadsheet people, or click the "Update" button...🤪

What a fizzer these races are. The commentators are tying hard to make something exciting happen. It was like watching bread go stale
