Perhaps you guys already thought about this, but... You definitely should apply fiberglass over this thing! Exactly like they do with wooden boats, kayaks and stuff like that!
This way the foam is going to be much more durable!
Anyway, stay safe there with your families! 🖖😊

I think you guys should fiberglass parts of this craft so it really lasts and you get some cool missions done with it. This reminds me of a surfboard build.

This is one really cool idea! Who doesn't love Star Wars? Maybe a whole Star Wars series will come out of this. Hope the hovercraft idea is something that stays around, it would be great if you could fly it over water, land on the water and take off again. Oh great job on this project guys!

What a great project. This looks so cozy inside. Please let room in the middle console for an iPad cutout and get some custom app for the dashboard running.

I can picture you guys going down a highway in that. Have a lot of band aids ready for that first flight.

I've stuck around with FliteTest since I was 8 years old.
Now I'm preparing to go into a pilot training school soon.
Thanks Flite Test.

Awesome build, you should take apart your shop vac and take a look at its impeller. for your lift thrust you need pressure and not so much thrust from a prop . The pancake impeller design is simple to make and should give you better lift in a smaller diameter. It just requires more RnD than a prop but I think would pay for itself in the end..

Incredible build! This is actually such an innovative series, love seeing these ideas come to life on FliteTest. Nothing else like it anywhere! The fact that this is going to be pilot controlled makes me wonder how much weight that's going to add vs just using a simpler FPV RC setup where the pilot is just using those lightweight controls. So excited with this project!

this reminded me of when i saw the real one at an exhibition in about 1978 when i was a kid I'd never seen the film but it was so cool!
Have you considered using something like space blanket to disguise the hover craft skirt?
The reflections could help it to blend in somewhat.

If you guys get this flying, you HAVE TO ask Mark Hammil to come fly it.

Heard after being pulled over by the local police during a test drive:

“You don’t need to see his drivers license. These aren’t the Droids you’re looking for.”

I went back to look at the very first video i ever watched of flitetest it was the eRC microstik review 12yrs ago It's something amazing how far you have come, flitetest is the very first channel that I have been subscribed to. I subscribed to you after my very first drone purchase back in the day. It was the DJI Phantom 1 soon as it hit the shelf at hobbytown, this has to be at least 10yrs ago now. my very first hobby grade drone. I don't ever comment but I do want to thank you, you guys had really helped me learn about the drones in those beginning years. I still watch ever video. And enjoy everyone. You have inspired many people and the things you do with kids to keep the positive vibes going is just a wonderful thing to see.
Keep up the great content and the even crazier engineering you guys do there! You do good great things over there!
