This is great. Love going for more of an old school look but also a fan of the idea of limiting yourself a bit in terms of what you take with you. Sometimes too much gear makes getting the shot harder, and having one camera with one fixed focal length removes the hurdle and can lead to more fun and creative photography

Love it. I'm fortunate to have a Fuji x100v (from before the TikTok hype thank God) but it was never necessary to shoot the style you were looking for. I'm a big fan of your other channels content but seeing this more candid side of ol' Bob and exploring other things like cameras is definitely fun to watch.
You always have a very reasonable approach to things so whether it's small emulator handhelds, gaming, etc it's fun to hear your thoughts on other things you enjoy, like cameras and the sort.

You’re the reason I impulse-bought a Japanese Game Boy camera a few years back. Retro photography is a great hobby, albeit an expensive one at times. But I applaud your logic and reasoning behind the equipment you’re using. There are dynamics and character that you’ll get out of that setup that you wouldn’t get out of newer equipment. Also, for street photography, the less attention you draw to yourself and your gear, the better. So - wise choices all around.

Dude, I legit received my Sony NEX-C3 two days ago, and then you drop this This definitely put me into some good feels…that was the first “real” camera that I had the joy of using back in 2014, and been in love with (amateur) photography since! I’ve been comparing it to my α7C, and yes the quality isn’t much of a match, but there’s a certain charm with shooting straight out of my NEX-C3 that I would have to edit down on the α7C…it’s just not the same. The C3 is definitely my new “fun” camera for sure!!

Love this setup! I'm a big micro four thirds user because of how portable they are and the fact you can get Leica lenses for them without breaking the bank. I use pro mist filters as well, helps light to fill the image more and reduce contrast which I prefer.

This was a cool video. I miss the days of having a portable camera that wasn't just ties to your phone and the novelty behind that. The fact that the camera kinda gives a soft and vintage look to the photo is cool. Just goes to show some pieces of tech still have a use now.

Going on vacation coming up and this inspires me to dig out one of my old point-and-shoot cameras to take along. I jumped on the "my phone is my camera" bandwagon as soon as the picture quality caught up enough, but I do miss having something with 1) a wrist strap, for taking those shots where if you drop your phone its gone forever down a cliff or something, and 2) the ability to just be ready the second I turn it on, no lag, no lock screen, etc. Thanks for the vid, Bob.

Hey Bob, I recently went on a similar journey to you. I bought a Fuji X100V (I lucked out and bought it new) and wasn’t a big fan of the focal length, but it really inspired me to carry it around with me.

I ended up landing on a Fujifilm XF10. It’s discontinued and the prices are kind of inflated right now, but I love it. It is a fixed lens camera that literally fits in the pocket of my jeans. It’s 18.5mm on an APSC sensor. If you look into it, people talk about how the autofocus sucks; they are full of shit. It works great for me.

Just wanted to throw it out there because I literally have this camera with me all of the time!

My first camera was the model before this, the Sony Nex-5. I've logged thousands of photos on it, but haven't broken it out in a while. I've been in a similar spot of wanting a film-y digital camera, but the Fuji being way to expensive. This convinced me to try a new lense and filter on the Nex-5.
