The Garuda Indonesia B777-300ER | New Flight Doha - Jakarta | Garuda Economy Class | Trip Report

Hey everyone, welcome aboard the flagship of Indonesia: the Garuda Indonesia B777-300ER.

Garuda Indonesia has recently started flights to Doha and code shares with Qatar Airways, so when I had to go to Jakarta from Dubai it was an easy choice to take this flight!

It was my first time on the Garuda Indonesia B777-300ER. As a Skytrax 5 Star Airline I had very high expectations once I boarded but that were not really met.. Specially not when the flight is operated in partnership with Qatar Airways.
So this video shows you why you should not trust rating agencies!

But at the same time I enjoyed the experience very much. I continue to love aviation as is and there have to be different airlines and services in the air, so this video is my tribute to Garuda Indonesia and the subscribers from there.

I lost all faith in Skytrax when they gave Lufthansa a 5-star rating for their Allegris “concept”. I wouldn’t be surprised if Skytrax gave Lufthansa a 6-star rating for their non-allegris business class on their A380s. Regardless, I still think OTHH is a solid airport but not the best. As a regular user of Garuda, I think it’s a solid airline but not 5-star or better than Emirates or Turkish. However, a 9-abreast 777 helps make Garuda stand out.

Wow! Finally on Garuda Indonesia. Personal experience: food was good, service was excellent friendliness and courteous (hard to get these days), AC was freezing. Only unpleasant IFE. Limited choice of movies and they were outdated movies too. Even the Indonesian movies. Definitely not a choice for a medium or long haul flight. Short one is bearable. Since there wasnt entertainment and forced to do soul-searching instead 😂

Based by your review, i agree that Garuda must improve their service. Corruption and covid make Garuda almost hit a bankruptcy, so Garuda not a "pride of Indonesian" anymore for me. I'm agree with you that Garuda must be "more Indonesian airline" by serving Indonesian food in economy, giving a clean cutleries, and improving their IFE's. Their IFE was so mediocre. I hope Garuda will be fly higher someday

Interesting, seems Garuda is good in economy, their staff usually are their biggest assets.

I had the pleasure of flying their discontinued route from London to Jakarta in 2018, in Business, very good ! And at the time THE longest flight from Heathrow to anywhere!

Great review! I flew on Garuda's A330-900 and it surely is a step up from the B777. I can't wait to upload my video of it and I fully agree with your verdict that there is room for improvement for the IFE but their staff are the greatest asset.

Our last trip on Garuda Indonesia was some years ago returning from Jakarta to Perth. Fully Indonesian, good cabin crew, good flight. There was a tropical cyclone off the northwest coast and the captain flew further east than he otherwise would to avoid the turbulence. 👍🏼

Garuda has a fantastic soft product, which is the crew. But they need an overhaul with their hard product and route network to compete better with their regional peers. Otherwise, they will just be more of a regional airline.
