The issue is NOT racism. Not entirely. The issue is mostly one of class, the haves and have nots. We need to deal with income disparity in this country. We need Medicare for all, $15 minimum wage, free college, the regulation of Wall Street, implementation of a Green New Deal, rebuilding of our infrastructure, and end to the endless wars among other issues. Most of all we need to fight the major corporations like big oil and the pharmaceutical companies that have a stranglehold on our politics and have made America a country that mostly benefits the wealthy and not the middle class and working poor. Finally I want to address Donny Deutch’s last words in this video, and that is that his daughters are “colorblind“. I hate when white people say this. To me it is a code word for a person who truly hasn’t dealt with their stuff in terms of race. I do not want you to NOT see my race. That is a ridiculous, naive, and an unrealistic concept. I think the goal is to acknowledge people’s differences, and to NOT apply your personal prejudices or fear to it. Racism comes from fear and insecurity. True acceptance requires a respect, curiosity, and fearlessness I have seen very few people and white people especially, exhibit.
