During a Univision town hall in Miami, former President Donald Trump said "nothing" was "done wrong" when his supporters attacked the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, instead calling it a "day of love."
At the event aimed at reaching Hispanic voters, a former registered Republican offered Trump an opportunity to "win back" his vote, asking the former president about his "disturbing" actions on Jan. 6.
"I said 'peacefully and patriotically,'" Trump said in response, referring to his speech on the Ellipse before the Capitol attack. "Nothing done wrong, at all, nothing done wrong. And action was taken, strong action ... There were no guns down there, we didn't have guns. The others had guns, but we didn't have guns."
The insurrection on Jan. 6 was the most violent assault on the the Capitol since the British attack during the War of 1812.
