China's Relationship with Pakistan Fuels Tensions

Stephen Cohen: China's relationship with Pakistan is disquieting for the U.S., because it fuels tensions between South Asia. President Obama must find a way to allay India's concerns, while maintaining ties with China and Pakistan.

The title of this video is misleading. It is not China's relationship with Pakistan that fuels tensions. Pakistan-India tensions are independent of their relationship with the US or China. They were there when the US was pro-Pakistan, and they will be there as long as the Kashmir problem is not solved. Why can't you get that in your thick head? It is the US desire to control Pakistan's relationship with China, and pursuit of short term goals with India, that fuels tensions between Pakistan and the US. US policy towards Pakistan has changed, and now is governed by its desire to please India, and contain China. The US thinks it can browbeat Pakistan "with carrots and sticks" (how insulting and arrogant to use this terminology, as if other human beings are animals), to do its bidding. Since Pakistan has refused to be browbeaten it has earned the title of "being difficult" and a "frenemy". The fact is, the US is nobody's friend, not even Europe or Canada, let alone India's, thus everybody's potential enemy, the untrustworthy, the one to watch out for. It is the country that tramples on other countries to attain its goals, and destroys them mercilessly if they do not comply, both internally, and if that does not work, externally. Fortunately Pakistan is in a position that the US cannot force it however hard it tries, and believe me it has tried. This is a situation it finds very unbearable, thus the constant demonization of Pakistan and anti-Pakistan propaganda in the US. Insha Allah, Pakistan will come out ahead in this ongoing struggle of wills. Don't underestimate Pakistan. It is not Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, or Iran.

if west thinks kashmir is an issue, you are wrong. its not kashmir it's the mindset of islam vs hindus, the reason why pakistan was created. just imagine the role of all the terrorists in the world would be if suppose kashmir issue is resolved in later years. would they turn to monks? what about the pakistani army who has been enjoying the top most financial independence because of indian clout of fear? pakistan's benazir bhutto was killed, zardari was killed just because they wanted better relations, 99 kargil because things were best at that times, mumbai 08 because things were smooth after musarrafs departure and pulwama 19 because our pm went to pakistan to attend wedding without any prior planning. the reason to justify pakistan's creation is that hindus are bad and will kill you so imagine if kashmir is solved? the nation was built on political agendas, surviving on pseudo clout of fear and will lead to turn into a battleground ravaged with corruption, terrorism, poverty and lowest human intelligence. pakistan will stink very soon.

This gentleman portrays typical arrogance and prejudice. He was considered friend of Pakistan but it was a serious mistake as time has proved. India and Pakistan are here since Centuries. Only became independent States with own identity in August 1947. Kashmir Issue is their core problem and without it's just and amicable resolution, the Peace can't be established between them, what so ever.
USA or Chinese friendship or no friendship, Indo-Pak Region has it's own manifestations of mutual threat, and severe anxiety uncertainty and Suspecions.

If you're thinking US can keep relations with India not focusing on Pakistan or vice versa, then US policy makers are fool. India and Pakistan remains happy when they see other one in misery - Poor people poor minds.

We never considered America as an enemy. It was America's decision to partner up with Pakistan and not india. We were always non-aligned.
