Imagine if Dana held Jon Jones accountable the way he does guys like Mokaev

The worst mistake Mokaev ever made was selling the Kape fight and then doing almost nothing inside the octagon. He was barely more active than a Kape who busted his toe in the 1st round lmaooo

Feels like there was some major stuff behind the scenes. The lack luster fight after all that build up was probably the last straw.

Mokaev didn't know how to keep private conversations between him and UFC private, that's a problem.

I doubt he got cut because of his fighting style. There are other fighters just as boring and still under contract. Young, undefeated, highly ranked title contender, Muslim & British (two markets). He checks a lot of boxes that UFC likes, so he must have done something really fucked up behind the scenes to justify this. The UFC hates a lot of their fighters, but you've got to be really "special" to get this type of treatment. Regardless, I don't think it will hurt the UFC too much. The flyweight division gets weaker, but it was never that prominent to begin with.

Don't matter if its fair or not.
Dana does what he does regardless of what fans think.
Fans complain now and next week they forgot this guy was released. In the end we still watch every weekend.

It could not be simply due to his fight style. It has to be behind the scenes stuff during contract negotiations we are not privy to.

Kinda fucked up the way Dana just sent the kids career down the drain at 23 years old

UFC mus have a good reason. Good enough for me

I think his fighting outside the cage did not do him any favors. Unless a fighter has the star-power of Jones, Conor, or Jorge Masvidal, they're not going to get away with causing that much trouble. Anyone in a regular job would get fired for sucker-punching their co-worker. I know I would

I didn't like when they demoted the fight to prelims an definitely didn't like them not re-signing the kid

I personally often side with the decisions made by the UFC brass. But on this one, I am a little disappointed in them not resigning Mokaev. He is a 23 year old talent with a huge upside. I found his fights entertaining. His MMA grappling with transitions and positioning is next level among his weight category. Why not just dock his pay with suspension for his recent actions with Kape. Hopefully more information will come out on this situation.

It is very unfair. If he was released because of his fighting style, then Dana has a lot more releasing to do (90% of Dagestani fighters). Khabib should have been released, Aljo needs to be released, Merab too. This was just personal and had nothing to do with fighting style.

If course the dolly thrower didn't get cut. (unlike some in the bus)

I was disappointed in Mokaev's actions, but he didn't deserve to be cut for it. Fined, suspended, sure. But don't pretend he was cut for issues outside, when Dana been riding Jon Jones and Connor their whole career and constantly involved in way worse scandals and crimes. It's all about money and power. Screw Dana

Honestly yes. It's a company not a sport. You have to cut expenses to stay in business. I'd rather see good fights, than boring fight styles that take down the entire UFC cause it's hemorrhaging money

He doesn’t want mokaev to become the youngest UFC champion in history that’s why

I think the bigger emphasis on why UFC let him go is the immaturity & trouble he brings. The issues with Kape were ridiculous. They couldn’t even compose
Themselves during fight week let alone the trouble they caused staff at the P.I. Weeks back. Add that onto his “non-exciting” fight style and UFCs got their reasons

Do you people understand that the UFC isn't an international sport organization like the Olympics, right? They have no obligation to anyone but their owners and to honor the contracts that both parties agrees upon. Does some of their decisions seem questionable? Yes, but it's their business. Fighters who don't like the UFC conditions can leave. Fans who don't like the UFC don't have to watch it. There are many alternatives. The UFC acts like they are too big to fail and too big to care for anyone but their shareholders, and so far, everyone is proving them right.
