Jamie Leben is passionate about makerspaces and the wonderful community of makers, hackers, and tinkerers that build, work, and create in them. Makerspaces are as varied as the communities that build them, but commonly feature shared workspace and cutting edge tools like 3D printers at accessible rates. Education resources and skill sharing within the community are also vital components of a good makerspace.

Collective thinking & building is (to me), the variable for future social evolution

Been looking at what to do with an old farmhouse that my family has been restoring. The house is sitting on 6 acres of beautiful property 1.5 miles from our town. Were $100k into the project and have been having big issues securing a construction loan to finish it. I had an idea of converting the house and maybe even land into a makerspace. Thought it would be an amazing way to bring neighbors together, utilize the house for something unique, let people use the property for gardening or projects. There are also ponds which have beautiful wildlife. Anyways this video was inspiring!
