Chris, that’s fabulous for YOU! I’m happy that you are successful in your content creation and able to get paid. And that’s the important part above all else: Getting Paid! However for the rest of us content creators that haven’t met the bar yet of either 1000 subs or 4000 watch hours or for that matter finding an audience that wants OR cares about what you’re doing those numbers you put up on there are FANTASY numbers. The rest of us have to struggle to make our ends meet so that we don’t starve. That means finding work wherever so that we can continue to make videos. Suffice it said, lovely little video, but the reality is that YouTubers have to meet the basic metrics even before youtube will start paying out, and even getting to that point is a struggle. Thanks for the transparency.

I think the thing I love most about your videos, is how real you are. Not only is transparency with this kind of thing helpful, but the overall brand that you've built is your genuine personality and that's just something I really gravitate towards.

The reason most creators stop making videos are that YouTube is not paying enough, and their dishonest business behaviors. I have a channel with over 10k subs, videos with over 500k views and when I was active I got $80 a month.

MKBHD regularly has close to 2 million views (Viewers) and it is reported he gets about 1.2 million a year from YouTube, Anderson Cooper has about 500k viewers on average and CNN pays him 11 million a year. This is insane, but then to add to it, MKBHD has to maintain his own staff, editing, studio, cameras, insurance, and so on, and Anderson Cooper is given everything, and probably could't even operate a camera. I'm not picking on Anderson Cooper, but these are both news related personalities, and it shows how much YouTube is ripping off their creators. MKBHD is doing all the work, even uploading the finished product to YouTube, its just crazy. MKBHD just an example, you can fill it in with any popular YouTuber.

YouTube has to take in account US views vs world, because most advertisers only want US viewers, but YouTube can certainly provide ridiculous viewer statistics that broadcast television would die for. So with that said, there is no reason YouTube at this point can't get more advertising money than a major network, they can to an exact science advertise to any market, including the difficult younger demographic. If they are not getting the advertising dollars, that is their fault not the content creators. Channels like your channel, is giving YouTube amazing quality content, that is perfectly targeted for advertising. YouTube needs a shakeup in management, Google has made a fortune in search advertising, that was also a new platform when they started, so they have the history of legitimizing a new platform. I use to have a channel, I had about 10k subscribers with regular viewership at 3-5k per video. I was making about $180 a month, which was not worth my time. I even had a few video with close to 500, 000 views, which is on par with some low Netflix originals. I think if you have 10k subscribers you should be able to make $1, 000 a month, 100, 000k subscribers, which is a low cable TV viewer number, should be able to make a good living just on making videos. Again these are handed to YouTube on a golden platter, the maker is doing all the work, cameras, editing, lighting, studio, and the list goes on. Imagine if YouTube invested in great creators like yourself.

Imagine if you made enough money from YouTube that you didn’t have to do anything else. If YouTube creators made a living off YouTube, as they should, the quality would sky rocket. The problem is people lose interest overtime, because when it comes down to it, it is work, and everyone wants to get paid appropriately for their work.

2:08 That was definitely one of the love children of the 'Shmenge Brothers' and their polka groupies.
Edited to add:
There is a 'Middle / working class' wage to be made here on YouTube - treat it like a job and you'll succeed.
