In Algeria we also call a coin a dourou.. I think it's from the french colonization that brought the ''euro''

i m from tunisia .. and i don't know why .. i born and hear my parents say dourouu .. so it douroo .. in arabic it means " rounded "

All right a tunisian here and to my knowledge if im not mistaken it is in fact called that because in the old days it was accualy not a full coin but a holow one and to us a circle is called (doura) in our spoken arabic so i think that is where the name originated from. Sorry if it turns out to be misinformation
