On my last trip to Japan I spent a day in Nara. It's really a wonderful place to relax, especially after spending time in a big city. I'll definitely go back, hopefully during autumn to see the beautiful colors.

"Home to cute and friendly deer..."
Me: Remembers Sarah pleading for Emma to save her while she runs away from a deer. 🤣

i stayed at that exact same temple, about 10 years ago ... i remember there were a number of tiger statues and imagery, but i didn't speak enough japanese to ask why ... and they gave us a tour through a completely darkened tunnel within the temple, along with a tourguide explaining things in japanese that we could not understand ... it was a great experience, despite the language barrier. :)

When I went to Todai-ji in summer last year. It was incredible! We got stuck inside during a huge rainstorm, while a wedding photoshoot was happening. It was an amazing experience, and a privilege to witness.

While everything was amazing, every aspect of the temple stay was absolutely stunning.

Man I couldn't believe what I walked into when I went to Todai-ji Temple myself. Absolutely stunning. Also the peach ice cream in Nara was very Oishi 😋🍦🍑

Nara (奈良) is 平城京 (Heijyo Kyo / Peace Castle Capital), which was the capital of Japan from 710 to 794. Kyoto (京都) is 平安京 (Heian Kyo / Peace Secure Capital), which was the capital of Japan from 794 to 1868.

I can't believe you queue to go through that column in Todaiji Temple. It must have taken a while.

Speed which mochi is hit.. is amazing! Nice Temple tour with various activities! I remember when I studied Japanese and did a lot of hiragana and katakana writing to the notebook... and do all those writings with ink is the next level.. (calligraphy)
