I recently found a red heeler pup on the streets of South Central LA and gave her some actual food because she was digging for scraps. I was going for a run and she actually ran with me and even nibbled at the back of my legs. It did not take long for her to know the rhythm and she became my best workout buddy ever. She loves to run with me and especially loves when I give those short burst of speed when sprinting. The fact that I don’t have to put her on a leash and she follows close to me proves to me that this breed when it comes to intelligence and loyalty is bar none.

My red heeler rescue dog is more like my best mate than a pet.

I had a red for a pet, had some dingo. Was a fantastic friend, companion. As I was fairly active, Lucky was perfect & would go everywhere with me. Unfortunately my situation changed & I had to find a new home for him. My mother knew of a guy in country, on farm that was recovering from cancer. He needed a companion so it was very lucky. IT broke my heart & I still tear up today, some 30 years on but I kept in contact & Lucky seemed to understand, fulfilling his new role perfectly. He lived out the rest of his life with a huge outdoors to play in & even some animals to herd. 😢⛪🚜🌞🐔🐄🐖👀🐕👍👍👏😊

I've learned that when my house is totally silent, my heeler is probably up to some shenanigans. Lol. He's a sneaky little devil.

I got a red heeler crossed with a jack Russell terrier
He was a stray in a country town where i lived with my mum and uncle, he just waltzed into my mums work through the back gate and never left so he was fed and taught how to sit and everyone immediately noted how friendly and affectionate he was with people, if you pet him he'll paw you back with both paws like hes trying to hug your hand 😂
Hes travelled a long way to live with us and hes been woth is now for just under 5 years
Digger is his name and hes a good lad
Absolutely beautiful little dog with a lot of character, hes very jealous of other dogs around me and hes got a mean bark and a nasty bite but hes alright

My Grandma's red heeler is so intelligent, obedient, and loving. She listens well and knows lots of tricks. She is like a best friend to me. She is also very protective. Her sister, who is a blue heeler, she is hyper. Learning tricks is harder for her. But she is very playful. She loves to cuddle up with me. Does anyone else have a blue heeler that screeches? Because a couple of friends' do?!.

Ours is named Winston. He would follow me to the gates of Hell and take the key away from the Devil if I asked him to. Best dog I've ever owned. I think if I were smart enough I could teach him to talk.

Great dogs - need a firm hand though. Onto my second red heeler and she’s a lovely ship’s dog.

I have a little girl around a year about 35 lbs/ 16kg, mostly white with freckles, soft smooth coat which makes her look ripped af, little mohawk when she's excited, big red dingo ears. Velcro Dog is an understatement, so affectionate. Not afraid of a ner nutta dog, stalks -high prey drive, chompy when she's bored like a cattle dog, very alert/hesitant. There are a lot of dogs that branched off from original canines or dingo-looking dogs. I have seen some stuff about Carolina dogs, Kelpies Thai Ridgebacks. I would love any input from anyone with a similar dog, or breed knowledge that might explain a skinny, smooth coated, big pointy dingo ears. Also, does anyone notice their cattle dogs do that back-legs-in-unison thing when they trot or run slow? Looks very Hyena or wild dog.
