Sylvester Gardenzio Stallone (Сильвестр Сталлоне) is an American actor, screenwriter, producer, and director. He is well known for his Hollywood action roles, particularly boxer Rocky Balboa, the title character of the Rocky series' seven films from 1976 to 2015; soldier John Rambo from the four Rambo films, which ran from 1982 to 2008; and Barney Ross in the three The Expendables films from 2010 to 2014. He wrote or co-wrote most of the 14 films in all three franchises, and directed many of the films.

In 1977, Stallone was nominated for two Academy Awards for Rocky, Best Original Screenplay and Best Actor. He received critical raves, as well as his first Golden Globe Award and third Academy Award nomination, for reprising his role of Rocky Balboa in Ryan Coogler's 2015 film Creed.

So the reason it missed a few years of his pictures was because he was actually homeless for a long time. He wrote the story of Rocky on the back of a cigarette packet. He went to the producers of a film making company (who were also short of a penny at the time) and told them his big ideas for a low budget film which would make cinematic history. However, he told them that he would only sell them the story if he could play Rocky. They refused at first but since their company was falling apart they soon accepted. In order to survive he sold his dog for food (The dog in Rocky ACTUALLY belonged to Stallone in real life) and once the movie went to cinemas and became a huge hit, the first thing he bought with his cheque was his dog back. Not a hot meal, not a house to sleep in, but his loyal companion.
