FINDING A CLEAN BMW E36 SALOON ON MY DOOR STEP!............. WALKAROUND VIDEO

Today's video is follow on from last weeks video where we did south to north Lake District trip by public transport and came home with new TE mobile.
The car In question is 1994 BMW E36 316I Saloon in rather interesting spec what you'll learn about in this video,
This isn't my first time with BMW like this I've lot to do with theses cars over the years.

My mrs has an e36 316 saloon about 10 years ago. It was an R reg and apart from the bottom spec 1.6 8v engine with only 100bhp, everything else was high spec. Metallic black, discs brakes all round with ASC traction control, (dunno why it didn’t have the power to spin the wheels even in the wet), leather interior, sports suspension, colour coded side skirts and numbers, 17” alloys, factory fitted twin exhaust and all sorts of stuff. It looked like a high spec 328i until you started the engine and realised there were 2 pistons and 16 valves missing.

I’m on number 5 now when it comes to the E36 and the 4 cylinder is a fantastic lump and the real gem of the fours is the M42/44 but the M43 isn’t a bad engine but it’s worth renewing the cooling system for piece of mind.

I alway use a smear of grease on the jacking point covers when I give mine a clean and it works a treat at keeping the rot at bay as mine is still as good as the day it left the factory.

The E36 is a classic 1990's car - designed to look ageless and modern, even now. Having said that, I think even though the shape / styling is fantastic, a lot of it depends on the colour. The colour needs to compliment the shape and a lighter colour does this. The car here (light blue) looks great. Unfortunately many of these cars have a colour that does not show off the shape to the maximum. The 5 door is great, as is the 2 door coupe and convertible. The diesel ones seem to be quite rare. I think the E36 looks best in a modest executive demeanour rather than being 'sported up'. Although they are a product of their day and many would have been sported up at the time. I believe many things in life have deteriorated since the year 2000 (approx.) - in car terms this backs up my belief. The next model 3 series looks great but the classic 3 series look was being diluted. This particular model looks like it is in very good condition. My advice is to maintain the condition, store dry if possible and spray with oil underneath. Good find.

Lovely condition. When I had an E30 in the mid 90s my manager got a brand new 316i. The BMW 1.6 engine is really fuel efficient, in the E30 you could easily get about 50mpg out of them. My E36 318is coupe I bought in 2003 has never ever had a rust problem, it just never rusts even thought it's outside all the time for 20 years and not in a garage.

Exellent thomas its nice to see a old one being looked after ... and yes why does everyone want a bmw thats sports car fast it will do everything want and its nice to enjoy the older bmws, my cousin had a bmw 7 serise wow what a lounging barge comfatable and you just wanted the journey to carry on ... please dont get there .. its so nice in here, and yet only 70 mph in uk unless you own a race track why do they drive em like maniacs ... plus if there that good and brill i would rather cruise around enjoy the road ... chill ..

I own a citroen c4 and it wafts nicely i chill and enjoy the more comforting ride plus as a picasso .what a massive window to watch life cruise by, lol Neil
