This piece is major music. Takes the instrument to another level. Your writing style is XXI century but rooted in the very first stages of poliphony and modality of occidental music. Humble and simple yet majestic. You are a true artist. Your music speaks to the soul (all your pieces). Also the performer, poetic excellence. This style of composition, though looks simplistic, requires a great performer to achieve the artistry in the musical lines and ensemble.

Years later and I think this is still my favorite of your compositions. It's similar to my own style in a lot of ways, so I'm admittedly probably a bit biased, but the way so many variations arise out of such relatively simple progressions and the simple harmonies all manage to all be so compellingly rich is just unparalleled. The opening is still my favorite part—that and the "quasi echo" bits, those inevitably send chills down my spine. This performance effortlessly captures and creates sounds that I've spent years trying to figure out how to produce from my own writing.

I have just discovered this extraordinary music and composer and I'm overwhelmed with a sense of gratitude towards the composer, Mr. Beeftink. This morning I played "Birds" and "Frequency" and other pieces I found on Youtube and the (Southeastern Mexican) birds outside gathered and chirped in with a full trill! Gracias!!! A million!

I played both flute and violin but never found any music that made my instrument/sing - yet, when I was a junior I played descant, tenor and bass recorder- the wooden tenor I had a beautiful warm tone which a hateful judge at a competition I was entered into took great delight in informing me it was "out of tune". (The view I had formed whilst playing was that their accompanying clangy piano was ruining everything!) I was forced to change to a different instrument and forever mourned the loss of that warm sounding music. I'd noticed before, but it is especially audible in this piece as played by flute, the warmth and joy I experienced in playing my wooden tenor recorder. Thank you so much.
