Bauer 3X Goalie Gear Review - Pro Features at Half the Price

A close up look at all the features of Bauer's second pricepoint 3X gear for goaltenders. With plenty of pro-level features this gear comes in at a fantastic price. Our testing of the 2X line showed this price can still deliver gear that will stand up to the rigors of a AAA season - and perform.

When the border opens up between the USA and Canada I hope to make a trip The Hockey Shop just so I can see that beautiful wall of blockers and gloves . Great review

I’ve noticed that on a lot of listings online for the 3x senior catcher, it claimed it has a game ready pro palm. Is this correct? If not, what is the protection like in the palm? Obviously not expecting Poron.

My son is in U16AAA using all Hyperlite and had a issue with the glove getting bad stingers to the point I ordered a lizard skin glove from the hockey shop. But after reaching out to Bauer they are replacing the glove at no charge. Good line and warranty. Also the lizard skin glove did stop the stingers while waiting for the replacement.

I just saw the description elsewhere, and unless I'm mistaken, this pad still had CORTECH on the sliding edge?!?

Mach 5 or 3X... I keep checking on line and there's no stock though.
Would love a set of these.

Do these fit similarly to the 2x Pros? I'm 6'1 and I'm wearing large 2x Pros now, but I feel like I slip forward off the knee landing pad because they're too short, and that I should actually be in an X-Large.

Do you think these would hold up at an ACHA D1 level?

Just picked up the 3X pad, was really impressed in store

Is it true you should bump up a pad size with the new Bauer hyperlite line? As the boot sits at an 100 degree angle. I’ve always worn 34+2 with an (outside) ATK of 18

I think 80% of the goalies are in the 2nd tier stuff. From what I see.

Got my 3x glove a couple months ago and to be honest I'm not loving it. I went up from intermediate to senior although it seemed great at first and I am making good saves, everything just pops right out because I can't get a good close on the glove. There's still a pretty sizable gap and the bump at the very bottom of the palm stops me from closing it fully. Not sure if it's just this glove but not a fan. Hopefully it gets better as it gets more broken in but after working and wearing it almost every day it's definitly hit a plateu.

Hi there,
Really appreciate the honest feedback back.I have a son who is 12 playing AA and trying out for AAA(second year Pee wee). His last set of pads were the ccm P 2.9 which he liked. When he tried on the Axis, he did not like the line for himself( something to do with the boot ) He has narrowed his choices down to the Bauer 3x and the ccm e-flex 5. I do feel he is leaning towards the Bauer. Any feedback would be greatly appreciate. A concern I had was the durability of both of his selections .In the past I had learned that Bauer pads often had issue with durability and longevity. Also the same applied to previous e flex pads. Is that still an issue? His style Of play is probably hybrid, but leans a bit toward a butterfly style. He is still developing. Any feed back between the 2 contending pads would be very helpful. Thanks so much
