Opening Keynote – “What Clinical Trials Taught Us and How HD Therapeutic Development is Accelerating in 2022” - Ray Truant
The Roche and Wave Trials in 2020 opened up a large amount of data in what were the first truly focused trials in Huntington’s disease. This presentation will demonstrate was learned from these trials, as well as new avenues in HD therapeutics already in clinical trials in 2022. We will discuss the advances of HD genetics and Genome-Wide Association Studies (GWAS) that have uncovered new disease targets for HD and unprecedented Biotech and Pharma investment in HD research. We will present new data from the Truant lab on one of the earliest pathways affected by HD, as well as new paradigm of the clinical profile of HD which will influence how drugs are being developed and trialed on a real goal of preventing disease onset or delaying disease by decades. GWAS has proven that the course of HD can be affected by 30 years or more, suggesting even subtle effects by new drugs could have profound effects in HD. #HDCon22
