I've met him very briefly back in the 80's in Tokyo. At my old fave yakiniku restaurant ( I am a long time vegetarian now, though !! )called " Ju ju "( じゅう じゅう) in Roppongi . He was w 2 ladies, he had to leave everybody as he had a bad headache ! I just told we all loved him !

He once said he wrote this magnificent piece in Los Angeles wondering how to say " ( It's ) over "
