I only watched the season of Terrace House when they were in Hawaii but it was pretty entertaining and easy to pick up words

As someone that works in a Japanese salon, I agree. I learned Japanese mostly from games and animes and songs, but working with Japanese people feels really different. They talk really fast, and most often than not, I still missed some words and meaning, but after a year or so, I can feel myself getting better. It’s a very fun experience, and I’ve been liking to talk Japanese now too, even though still limited but it’s worth it😅

It's funny how I understand every word you said during the anime skit 😂

Japanese variety shows
Japanese news
Japanese dramas
Japanese radio programs
Japanese music

Watch and listen to all of these everyday and you'll be good in japanese real fast

I have lived in Japan for 5 years now and the best thing to get the language is to watch as much Japanese movies and series. What you’ll learn is how to use every duo lingo words in real world. So you’ll start connecting your vocabs with conversations.

If you want to know what anime talks feels like to Japanese, just imagine someone speaks like batman

There's an old but very good book series called Minna no Nihongo. I'd say all 50 lessons would give anyone a good, strong base of vocabulary and grammar. And then you can learn nuances of everyday living language by watching TV shows and so on.

"We don't talk like that" my friend, you specifically absolutely talk like that, and i love you for it! Other Japanese people, probably not. Keep up the energetic content!

Terrace House was my favorrrritee comfort show😭 so calm, engaging, but not over the top. Very quickly started talking back to the hosts/tv, using Japanese phrases commenting on what was happening while watching, etc. Very natural way to learn

Japanese dramas, radio and japanese songs are also good for you to get used to hearing japanese. I have been listening to songs and watching dramas since i was 10 yo and I can understand a normal casual convo.

My friend is a big fan of japanese idol. She regularly watches their variety show every week, no subtitles ofc. At first she only understand 1% of whatever the idol said. In less than a year, she started making fansub for the idol jdrama (still asking me for difficult words). So i guess variety show indeed works for her so far, not fluent enough, but she understands basic conversation.

It's true. When I first arrived at Japan, I watched many TV variety shows, my sensei said my Japanese has improved a lot in just 3 months. I also learned so much vocabularies and better pronunciations of Japanese words, and learned daily languange

This is actually what I've been telling a lot of people. Because Terrance house was one of the only shows where I could hear people speaking real naturally and casually. Helped my comprehension so much.

This is actually true. If you watch shows of the language you're trying to learn you become more able to understand it. I have expiriece because when i was about 10 years old i watched some kids shows that were in hindi and after watching it for a while i started understansing a bit of hindi to a point of bring able to talk in hindi pretty easily. But idk how to read hindi
