How to make Shure MV7 the Perfect Podcast Microphone

The Shure MV7 is a great podcast microphone, but it can pick up plosives from time to time.

Speak across the microphone and not directly into it. It works! Watched the lady from Shure do it and then she spoke about it on an Ecamm Live.

But it leaves a large gap between your mouth and the microphone grill. Lower volume, less proximity-based bass. I prefer the original filter. Just use better mic technique. I am thinking of adding just a tiny extra layer of foam to the front, but have not gotten to it yet.

Isn't an 's' sound a sibilant, not a plosive? I thought plosives were p, d, t, b, etc.

Can you guys do a video on audio editing? Like what did you do exactly to get sound like this cause my MV7 does not sound this good!

This mic is fine just the foam part sam mike different foam

You can also go the fabric store and get some dead cat material for half that price and cut out a circle amount and stuff it in the top of the existing windmuff to help filter out the “p” and “S”

Mics only pick up plosives if you don't know how to place your microphone properly.

How do I open the mic for WIDE open and not "direct to mouth" sound? Does that make sense?

Doing this does not really fix any of the plosives or wind noise fully. No joke I'm using both at same time to solve issue. I may try an nt1 windscreen on it and see if it fixes it.

Windnoise is the biggest issue with the windscreen as shure makes horrible windscreens

Noooo, the best mic is the Electrovoice RE20 or the Neumann U87Ai

Shure SM7b's windscreen isn't very good, either. If you speak directly into the mic, the plosives are still annoying.
