It would appear that the proper name should be Nitecore NU25 UL, Not Nu25 NL. Flashlight Brand has miss printed the information on their website

Best video on UL25. Complete and easy to understand all settings.

Was going to order the Olight perun 2 mini today over this Nitecore. Till I seen your video. Other videos are saying it complicated to use but you showed it's simple. Thanks for the video 👍

I’ve been using this light since it’s prior generation (about five years) for backpacking and I use it around the house when called for as well (just changed my car battery at night, using it as a work light).

I find medium is really the only setting needed. I hike a 3+ mile per hour pace in the woods while on medium and never feel that I need more.

In terms of the battery life I don’t know if it meets the published specs. What I can say is that it frustratingly gets to 25% left on the battery meter within an hour or so of use. However I’ve then gone on to use the headlamp for hours and have never drained it completely.

I carry an external battery while on trail for my headlamp, phone, and InReach and make sure to recharge the headlamp after ten hours or so of use, as I do night hike and would hate to run out of light prematurely.

The light won’t just turn off on you as power runs out, however. I’ve noticed that the high or medium will step down in output first, so it’s a warning of sorts.

I would also say that it charges very quickly. An hour or so when plugged into the wall will get me a full charge.

The one thing you didn’t mention in your review is that when recharging, there’s a light that goes from red to green when the battery is at full charge.

Overall, this headlamp works and is priced so well that I don’t understand why outdoors people would want anything else.

They rounded off the corners and made it sexy!
Mine is a little plastic box. I bought a yellow one because I don't want to lose it. I had to do the shock cord mod myself, with the help of several YouTube channels.
Thanks for showing it, Mark. Mine has been trouble-free for over 500 miles of the Appalachian Trail. I can't say enough good about it, though I was concerned about the delicate hinge at first. It is very well thought out.

Mark, thanks for another great video. That looks like a nice light, even if it was a lot heavier. It's very low weight is a bonus!

Actually a nice light. The two buttons makes accessing the setting pretty easy, and the price really isn’t that bad. Same or less than some of the big names.

I'm not very good at remembering which buttons to push on my existing NU25, and this new model looks like it has even more functions. Should I carry an additional flashlight to enable me to read the operating manual in the dark?
Seriously the NU25 is a great ultralight headlamp - I just wish it was a bit less complicated.

Can you show the glow of the strap please, important for night time visibility when running

The 400 lumen mode does not last long, I continue, but at 200 lumens it is capable of giving several hours without reducing power? thanks!

G'day Mark, sure is feature packed for a little fella; which personally I like, (and would go as far as to say mandatory), for on the trail. However, I do think many folks would balk at all the features/interface, i.e. just gimme simple; If this is you, I can recommend the Fenix HM23.
Leaving aside the non-replaceable battery, it would be nice to be able to optionally add a strap IMO, but hey if the cordage holds up and remains comfortable without a hat, well and good. I guess if you have suitable cordage elsewhere in your kit, that does make this aspect easily replaceable in the field as a bonus.
All in all, I can certainly see why it's so popular with UL walkers. Thanks for the look mate. Cheers Duke.

One thing I would like to have is the capability to turn on the Red lights without having your night vision affected by the brighter white lights.

Wow, not only did you not acknowledge your error on the product name but you also deleted my well intentioned comment to let you know. Thank you so much for letting me know that’s one less channel to visit,
much less subscribe.
