This is to maintain status quo. The history of New York has shown us that when you fill a city with immigrants, you end up with a divided populace that are too concerned with setting up a stable life to object to questionable political policies, high rent, etc.
Essentially, governments and business can do as they like without much push back from the public.
This is happening all throughout europe. Long term residents no longer represent the bulk of their nations, meaning that hold minority voting power.

Tbh I don't really care that much about ethnicity in the demographics. I'd imagine that if you get right down to it, the real issue is culture. It just so happens that the cultures we're not happy to introduce into the UK are by people of other ethnicities. The main culture being Islam. Pretty much no country that has a growing muslim immigrant population is benefitting from that, it's always a problem. Islamic culture is not compatible with pretty much any other, it's like Christianity from the middle ages, which is why the west has been on a trend of declining Christianity for decades as we become freer. Interesting that people will go to such lengths to defend Islam when we worked so hard to be free from the overbearing nature of Christianity.
