i remember going going to a Stockhausen concert at the chicago public library in 1963. It was a series of tape recorders somehow synchronized to play in tandem their recorded material accompanied by a lecture by Stockhausen after the "performance". I was a young conservatory student fed up with the constant three B's rep[ertoire of the school and Stockhausen was a rebellion. If I had heard this at the time I think I would have taken a whole new direction. It is incredible that these aural landscapes could have been produced with the limited sound technology of the time.
