they will achieve AGI internally, never release it, then use it to make better AGI until they achieve ASI internally, and then we’re all fucked.

It’s actually summarized very good. The real magic behind GPT is the feeling being understood.

down vote. your thumb nail was misleading.

Love the meme thumbnail, reminds me of how Lex’s GPT 3 vs GPT 4 explanation got out of context 😂

A world where people program in natural language, is truly exciting; opening entire concepts and projects to multiple areas of expertise, people in multiple contrasting areas of expertise: philosophers, authors, composers, artists, architects, freethinkers - no longer limiting the development and evolution of this technology to one particular group of nerdy computer, scientists ;) What an incredibly bright exciting future is it in front of us all. ❤

He's been sounding like a Politician since he sold the future of humanity to Microsoft

I’m impressed by the humanity and empathy in Altman’s answers. The future of humanity is in his safe hands. I hope he lives on for a very long time

I think regarding the fortan programming thing and punch cards

All current programing languages are level 3 turing complete that is fundamentally different than just level 4 programming languages or level 5, let alone to be entirely in natural language (whatever the H that is defined to be, bcz there are differences between giving high level description of a an algorithm vs inventing the algorithm (from the task definition, that is just level 5, and requires tons of planning core (of ehich LLMs have known, and actually fails at basic reasoning)

I don't think programming will change that much, but just the Human Machine interaction

I just don't like Sam Altman. He's a master manipulator. Also these massive interviews - he doesn't really say anything profound or even deeply insightful. Its a bit like Mark Zuckerberg just saying " lifes better when you share it with your friends" Thes silicon enabled people just don't relate as humans or our humanity.

Maybe super intelligence just means a super intuitive entity that is able to complete our sentences for us with more detail and precision than we had the focus to achieve with our tiny energy reserves limited by sleep and food.

Robots work hard for the wrong reasons That’s what Altman said

LOL, last week I asked chat GPT to write some basic pyspark code to generate SQL statement from metadata that maps source table+column to target table+column and it failed miserably. There's literally hundreds of examples of this on github and GPT was trained on github data. I would say for many areas, GPT failed to generalize well and just fails.

I'm glad he's thinking humanoid robots

We should stop at AGI. Just stop. No ASI.
