Good lord, I love the pitch shift for baby Toad's voice. I have to say it again, the attention and effort that's gone into the voice acting for this LP has elevated it so much, I absolutely love it.

Whenever I hear about why children not using status moves, I like to mention the time I encountering a wild Absol that used swords dance and double team over and over again, and then proceeded to one shot me with a single night slash. I gained some respect for status moves after that.

Partners closing doors after Mario is a reference to Super Mario RPG, where any door Mario opens will stay open, he does not close any doors, except his own.

As a kid, I used to love Mega Quake, but now that I'm older and understand basic calculations, Mega Quake has become an example of a Badge that's too costly for what it does. It works just like the other Quake Hammers, but deals 6 Piercing Damage on a successful Command for 7 FP. Already, we see that it costs more FP than its maxed base damage. You might think you can just use Flower Saver to bring the cost down, but you can only bring it down to 5 FP. Meanwhile, Power Quake with two Power Plus does 6 Damage for 4 FP, so not only is that cheaper still, but you also boost all of Mario's other attacks. You might think you could just pair Mega Quake with Power Plus to bump its damage to 8, but the problem is that there is only one regular enemy on the ground with over 12 HP. As I stated multiple times, at a high level, you calculate the damage to regular enemies in percentages, so ultimately, you still use up 7 FP for an attack that doesn't OHKO, and those Power Plus Badges end up eating 12 BP for nothing. There are a few enemies in the last chapter and in Chapter 6 that can be OHKOed with that setup, but even then, there are far more efficient methods for dealing with those.

Actually, you don't want to upgrade Kooper for a while. Reason being that Chapter 6 is chock full of flying enemies, and Kooper can't do shit to those. It's better to upgrade Parakarry since Air Raid is godly there. Hell, even Bombette is a better pick at this point.

Fun fact about status in vanilla, there's a hard cap of how many times an enemy can be affected by the same status. Usually status are so broken that you never hit the cap, but if you do they end up becoming immune in hard mode mods they decrease the cap.

What a heartwarming reunion! I'll be good and not tell his mom and sister what a complainer he was in the desert!

- I usually wait to upgrade Kooper until just before Chapter 7, since it's super useful there!
