Such a versatile band a lot of people thought they were just a rock band.

This song was based off the Ritchie Valens song "Ooh My Head" and is another example of a song they had from earlier that didn't make it onto an album until Physical Graffiti. The "Stu" is Rolling Stone Ian Stewart. He was an original member who played piano, until management decided he didn't fit their "look" so was turned into occasional piano player and road manager for the group. He also played the piano for Zep's song Rock and Roll. At the time, Zep was borrowing the Stones' mobile recording studio and one day Stewart was on hand. He starting playing a piano that was at Headley Grange and they jammed out this song. Believe it or not, that is Robert playing the guitar while Jimmy plays the mandolin. A writing credit was given to Mrs. Valens, Ritchie's mom so the Valens family could get the royalties directly, thereby cutting out any record/management middlemen. It backfired on Zeppelin because they were sued for the entire song instead of a partial writing credit. I've heard 2 stories about it; one, that it was Valens' former manager and record company that sued and Mrs. Valens had no part in the suit, and another that it was Valens' estate that sued so I'm not sure which, or maybe both.

Does this even sound like the group who did "Kashmir "? Love them both!

My favourite part: Wanton Song, Boogie With Stu, Black Country Woman, and Sick Again. It's like some medley for me)

Stu is Ian Stewart, who was the hidden 6th Rolling Stone as their pianist.
Since he was older and didn't look the part, he was never shown in pictures and concerts.

I love all kinds of music. A big reason for that is that Zeppelin introduced me to all types of music. Especially the blues. But being a teenager when this stuff came out really helped shape my musical tastes.

It was always Zeppelin and Uriah Heap back in the day for me. Both bands have no boundaries when it comes to genre. This is my top album by Zeppelin.

Another use of the echorec on the bass drum and sticks. They found this old honky tonk piano and Ian Stewart (Stu) started playing the piano riff and the song just became a jam.

I've had friends listen to Phys Graf and are in full denial that it's actually Zeppelin.

Little 15 yo. Jimmy Page doing skiffle.., in the UK .Listening to American blues, And creating his own form of music, this song is one of my favorite, & so is Black Country Woman! Love Led Zep..Never gets old...50 yrs of it... In my time of dying...taken from blind Willie Johnsons, Jesus make up my dying bed....in 1927 is extraordinary!!! 😉🔥🔥🔥

Ian Stewart is playing piano on this song not John Paul Jones.

I swear that Robert's vocal chords were not up to this during the Graffiti days. Did they record it well before those days?
