I read through the story of Daniel in your blog, I don't understand how he could have brought an £150, 000 house with a salary of just the £1, 200 per month. His deposit of £7, 500 plus £30, 000 government deposit = £37, 500 (25%). He would have to borrow £112, 500 (75%) or in other words he would have borrowed 7.8 times his annual salary of £14, 400! Under government policy lenders who accept the Help to Buy scheme can only lend 4.5 times of your annual salary, any annual overtime, bonuses, commission will be halved. So where did Daniel find this lender who is willing to break government policy? Please share it with me as I would like to have a word with the lender.
