Virtual OPFOR Academy Task 1 - Assault

Показать описание

This visualization is the first of a series depicting various OPFOR tasks for the Virtual OPFOR Academy. This task depicts an OPFOR mechanized Company Detachment conducting an assault on a BLUFOR unit in a hasty defense.
This module is designed for company level units assigned an OPFOR mission during home station training. By the end of this module you should have an appreciation for the subtask synchronization of an assault at the Company Detachment level.
The BLUFOR representation is only to provide context to OPFOR actions, and is not intended to represent current BLUFOR TTPs.

VBS3 is an actual training program used by the Australian military. I used it on a training exercise on a pacific island where we were meant to basically shadow a police patrol for a non warlike operations. we were not meant to meet anyone hostile and may have to basically support police operations ie public disturbances like rock throwing or riots. We literally had every soldier simulated ie sitting in a passenger position on a truck. This went for 3 hours with nothing to do. Lets just say the diggers got restless and whenever we dismounted we got up to shinanigans. At the end of the patrol we expended all non lethal ammunition, 20% of lethal ammunition, 1 KIA and 3 wounded plus a random red tractor was acquisitioned from the populous. Our training staff was not happy with out lack of focus on the task. VBS 3 would be more useful for warlike training it felt like a waste of time. It was a good laugh though.

Great video! It does beg the question... why didn’t the opfor just use the UAVs to attack the fuel trucks in the first place? Seems

While I do understand the training aspect and desired message behind the structure of this demonstration i would like to add that the correct course of action would have been to destroy the tankers via UAV to begin with and eliminate the enemy units as they were relocated/during travel because attacking a defending position is also allowing for the enemy to choose the battlefield where as an attack during transit also carries the possibility that the enemy troops will have split their units up and left some behind to protect the area.
Which would allow for an easier win anyway.
Along with the tankers I would have also cut off communication if possible

Those UAVs are rather concerning... Basically tactical cruise missiles.

Excelent video. Great quality content as usual.

I was curious about the armed UAVs. Looks like something similar does exist: AeroVironment Switchblade. In use by the army and marines. However, that only carries the firepower of a 40mm grenade, so it wouldn't be much use against M1s IRL.

I don’t think the HEAT warheads on those (very) small UAVs could take out an M1 as easily as is being depicted here. Especially as they don’t appear to be operating in a top-attack mode.

Please make a woodland/jungle combat scenario as I described in your last video... how the policing up of camouflage works, how to spread out in sight of each other etc.

Why they just use the drones in the tank fuels directly ? Apparently they have no air defense

US Army without artillery or aviation support? Bradly and abrams didnt move. Dominant heights are not controlled.

Take out the POL site with mortars, then attack the retreating/moving bluefor with drones and slow them down, and then just finnish them of from coy ABF PSN on the hills. Gotta keep it simple, this scenario is complicated AF! for OPFOR commander.

So a small switchblade drone is enough to destroy a main battle tank?

Sorry for being an idiot, but how did the OPFOR find those BLUFOR scout elements?

Why didn't you just use UAVs on their trucks?!

Why not just use the armed drones and mortars to take out the fuel point using the UAV as a spotter?

cool video but i doubt switchblades would kill m1 tanks, also couldve used them on the fuel trucks,

why didnt blufor have drones loitering around their position?

Why not just mortar/drone strike the fuel trucks?
