The first time I put my XC90 through the MoT it failed on a leaky rear Nivomat damper. New ones from the dealer (there is NO aftermarket equivalent) were about £300 each so I went with the standard damper conversion which includes matching springs. I was struggling to fit them (I don't have any of those through sockets) so I turned the job over to my mechanic.

Ah, another video from Dave, just what I needed! 😁

6:39 ‘a couple of tapi tap taps’. Don’t we all watch the same channels?😁

Hey there, great video! Is it ok to spin piston rod with a wrench when tightening that top nut, won't hurt the shock?

Another top job Dave, my mate has had one of these in 4 times, 1st time c v joint, customer ordered part, everything siezed up, 2 hour strip, wrong splines on the inner joint 🤣, so he rang the punter, it was an internet job for the parts, so he had to build it back up, a week later the right cv joint as per given spine information to customer, it was fitted, then it still had the customers diagnosed rattle 😂😂😂😂, so he ordered a full shaft, it came in, was stripped, the shaft was wrong for the gearbox side splines, he built it back up out it went again, punter ordered another shaft, car came in, stripped down again, the inner shaft wouldnt even go in the gearbox, on the customers instructions, my mate put the old shaft back in again, topped up the gearbox oil and the car was traded in to a dealer, volvo wanted over 500 quid for a shaft, but the punter has paid over 200 quid to have it stripped again and again, all punters are obviously told if they get the parts and they are wrong, it's not our fault, we don't rip off, but Bills have to be paid 👍👍🍦🍦, holiday time again next week, Poppy looked like she and her friend were loving the beach time 👍👍👍

Nice one Dave, I have never seen those type of shocks ( cool out )
I wonder is the mark on the shock are manufacturer fault or just a good old visegrip mark 😬😬
Enjoy your weekend & thanks Dave 😉

Hi Dave, usefull video again, .you mentioned that Volvo give no torque spec for that bolt, just wondering what or where do you normally get your data for torques etc. Is there anything out there that you might reccommend similar to Autodata but without the prohibitive annual subscription fee. Thanks Dave, all the best.

Good job Dave. I reckon you're going to be be sponsored by Meyle soon. Can't argue, they make superb parts. Have you thought about taking on an apprentice? You've a wealth of experience you should be passing on. I can imagine the logistics and health & safety paperwork.

Re-test should be free, it's just another way of saying scam. I had a vw caddy van & it failed on the D.O.E, said a rear brake caliper wasn't clamping as tight as the other. In this particular test center there's 2 screens in the waiting room so you can watch you vehicle getting tested. I just cleaned around the brake caliper & made it look like work was done. I re-booked the van, brought it in & was in the waiting room watching on the screen. The lad drove the van in, raised it up, shone in a light, saw work was done, dropped the van back down & spent 5 minutes talking to another lad. He never tested the brakes yet I got a pass cert that stated he did test the brakes. When I confronted the manager I was told the brakes were tested & everything was above board. He tried convince me I was wrong even though I was watching it on the screens in the waiting room.

shame the customer never wanted that exhaust welded would have been a good repair the money saved could have gone towards a new Gearbox next week 😉.
