you won the silicon lottery with that chip, my TR 3970x does it in 6.1 min and my thermals are way higher.

A "small" overclock of just 4.20 ghz on a 32-core cpu, lol. :D BTW, I expected a bit bigger time difference at 4.20 ghz. What frequency did the CPU run on at stock? My 3970x settles at 3.7 - 3.85 ghz at stock in such heavy workloads. I had ran some Blender Gooseberry benchmarks a few months ago on that machine. I should check my results when on the pc again and post here for reference. I wonder if there's a bottleneck somewhere with this particular render benchmark since Cinebench scales linearly with clock speed on Threadripper 3970x.

Nice, I just uploaded one using my Xeon @4.2GHz, usually run 4.5GHz though. :) 5:00.91s.

4:26s at 4.5GHz.
