SPS Spotlight Interview with Jon Viruet

Jon Viruet has been wrestling since he was a child. During his years at Central High School, he was WMass Champ 4X, State and All-state Champ 3X, NE Champ and National Champ 2X, he won Greco All American 2X, and more. After earning a D1 scholarship to Brown University, Viruet was an NCAA Division 1 qualifier twice, EIWA 3X. When Viruet came back to Springfield, he helped open Grit and Gratitude Wrestling Club, and just recently, the Puerto Rican Olympic committee selected Viruet for a chance to represent Puerto Rico in the 2024 Olympics. He is currently training with Springfield’s Olympic Bronze Medalist Rodney Smith and Jose Escribano, a former Massachusetts Greco-Roman national team coach.
