That’d be terrifying because the adult human has over 200 bones (I believe) and if they all act independently you would get chased by 200 bones and the rattling would also be terrifying if you’ve never heard the clicks of bones hitting each other in the dark it evokes a primal fear

Literally just the scene from the live action scooby doo movie when shaggy does this with a pipe to some skeleton boies

Then, an army of 20 skeletons surround the main characters. They all just disassemble themselves and fall on the floor with a lego kind of sound. Then, horrifyingly, they all merge together to form some terrific looking giant amalgamation.

Unless the bones are super strong, a bat would be a very good weapon to break them. That skull hit would crack it, possibly shatter it.

The question then becomes: does breaking the bones destroy them, or just create a bunch of jagged, animated fragments working independently to shank you with themselves?

Counterpoint, it’s skeletons of old school mobsters. Suits, ties, tommy guns. The works. The human character goes “OH NO! NOT TWO TIME JOE AND THE SPOOKY BOYS!” And the skeleton boss goes “RATTLE ‘EM BOYS! NYE HEH HEH HEH”
