There was often jackals in cemeteries and the ancient Egyptians believed that Anubis was associated with jackals. He helped Osiris after he was killed by his brother, Seth. He tricked him into getting into a coffin and thus killing Osiris. he had a brother named Horus who is the god of kingship and the sky. Anubis is also one of the oldest gods in Egyptian mythology dating back to 3100 to 2890 B.C.
