iPhone 4 Wifi Hotspot

We take a look at the iPhone 4 hotspot on Verizon. It turns out that it works quite well and just as expected. Verizon currently charges $20 per month for the feature to be turned on and also is coming to AT&T and other carriers soon with a future update.

yes, but here in the united states it is not that simple. You can get a pre-paid card with or without data and it is rare that people even use pre-paid here. Most phones have contracts tied to the carriers so you would have to have a plan that allows for you to use the hotspot function. On my iPhone I have to pay extra for it and it will not turn on. Many pre-paid even block that without an extra fee here in the United States.

If you are using it as a wifi hotspot you will be charged for the data you use, but if you are on your home wifi then you will not get charged for the data your phone is using other than your home internet bill.

you cannot use the phone as a personal hotspot with just a voice plan sim card. I am not misinforming people. Yes you coudl use a prepaid sim card, but that is not what they asked.

i don't get it. if you pay for your internet on your iphone 4, do you have to extra pay for using hotspot for your ipad ?

So you can't be on a call the same time as using the personal hotspot for Verizon? What happens if a call does come in using the hotspot? And is that the same for At&t?

Ok, so I'm confused. Do I need to jailbreak my iphone or go to my telecom provider to activate this feature, or does it already work on the iphone? I'm planning on buying it direct from Apple.. :)
