I am 71 yo and I recall what my grandpa told me on his death bed. He said “ I have lived during the greatest time in human history. When I was a kid we traveled by horse or buggy. We only had coal oil lamps for light, if we didn’t grow it, we didn’t eat it. Now there are cars and planes and electricity. Our fridge keeps every thing cold that we can buy from all over the world at the super market. We watch the news on a television set, talk to people all over the world on a telephone and a electric furnace heats our home. There are even people flying to the moon. I have lived through the greatest change the world has ever seen. I never would have believed we could come this far. But you, my grand son, will probably live to see it all go back again to what my parents had. “ I believe he was right.

I was raised like my grand pa. We did all that stuff my whole childhood. And I have returned to those days in my retirement..and love it...keeps me a healthy 64 yr old man... off grid is heaven these days✌

Our grandparents had gardens, root cellars and cold basements/crawl spaces for food storage.
The population is now concentrated in dense, urban centers, little or no garden space and very limited storage in ever shrinking apartments.
The coming food shortage will be far worse and result in violence. Generations born after 1980 don't have the skills previous generations did to look after themselves and their family.

Your wife is a very lucky woman to have such a knowledgeable and proactive husband/protector as you. Good job!

I am in the Andes in South America and at home we are preparing for Northern Hemisphere crazy things as well as for El Niño. Climate here at almost 10, 000 feet above sea level is hard on us, but we are preparing for a very dry season, drastic temperature changes, more wind than usual, etc. We have an abundant garden and preserve seeds that have adapted to drought and temperature fluctuations. We have a manual water filtration system, solar dehydrators to take advantage of the sun, rocket stove, etc. Our water supply is not connected to the grid. We have biodigestors. We will be doing some maintenance around the place and have everything needed. A generator is a must.

In Australia some of our city's have only 20- 30% tree canopy, so we are having suburbs getting hotter. So all of us need to plant trees.

Thanks for everything Kris. Your calm demeanor keeps me calm. When you say worry I know it will be serious.

Great job Kris. Weather is a huge factor that affects everyone. This is something that has to be considered everywhere, , all the time.

I found your channel by accident, but I am getting a lot of good information from it. As a former San Diegan, I know what El Nino can do. I have relocated to Texas and settled on two acres. I can tell you after moving here it is like being on another planet. Since we arrived in October 2022 we have had 18 inches of rain on the homestead. We are starting our prepping before the move but after watching your videos we know now how much more we need to do. Having a generator wired to the house and a dozen chickens in the yard will not be enough. The garden will not be enough. Thank you for all the good info. Get out of California while you can.

This speaks directly to me. I am witnessing this right now. There are 80 forest fires burning out of control here in Alberta as I write this. These kinds of fires are unprecedented for May!

I looked it up. I am in Canada and the possibility is that we have much hotter than normal temps where I am. We went through a heat dome not that long ago and it was horrific. People passed away in their homes due to being unprepared. It's good to always have frozen ice on hand, buy air conditioners BEFORE summer. Do not wait. Those were flying off the shelves right before and during the heat dome. Be familiar where cool down zones are where you live. Our cities had areas set up for people that didn't have ac in their home or had no access to anything to cool down. Have extra water on hand in case of water shortage. Have something with electrolytes in it like gatorade or hydralyte. Have something to cover windows to keep the sun out in case of emergency. Many were using cardboard or whatever they could find. One thing I noticed is many just were not prepared. They didn't even make something as simple as ice. They did not listen to the weather forecast they took a wait and see approach. And they suffered through it. Even if you think there is the slightest chance the weather forecast may be wrong it never hurts to prepare just in case. Don't wait. Good luck everyone because I have a feeling this summer is going to be brutal but we will see.

Very wise words, I have lived in FL for 30yrs and take the weather patterns seriously. Always have a plan. Fail to plan, Plan to fail

I'm so glad my family started this journey long ago. We live on solar, with very minimal propane use, but can do without the propane with very little changes. We can even do without the solar if it comes to that, as we have hand pumps on our wells. We grow a lot of our food & have at least 4 year's worth of firewood if we're using it for all of our cooking, probably 6 or 7 years if it's just for heat as it is now. I have enough prairie property to keep my livestock alive. I have a year's worth of dehydrated & freeze dried food, longer if it's just supplementing what we can grow

It’s been a time intensive project to be self sustaining but instead of seeing it as a chore, I see it as life sustaining for my future. Each day I’m working a little more at getting there. This weekend was about finishing the garden and drip system, fixing broken sprinklers. Today I’m adding my starters from indoors and moving towards a self sustaining vegetable and fruit crop. I only have a little less than a quarter of an acre but I’m working hard at making it mostly, if not all, edible and/or medicinal. Time to get back to work! Thanks for always encouraging us to do more!

Excellent analogy! My friend bought a waterfront house but it's not in a "flood zone" so she doesn't have flood insurance. I said, "Here's your house and there is the bay. You NEED flood insurance regardless if you are in a flood zone." She does not agree. Can you change stupid?

I really like these videos where you show photos and images of the things you are talking about, instead of just talking into the camera. It helps me visualize what you are saying. You also speak a bit more slowly during these videos, so it is easier for us to understand you. Thank you for the excellent weather lessons and reminders to prep, we appreciate you!

I live in Ft. Lauderdale and I am usually prepared for storms and hurricanes. If I know there is a hurricane coming, part of your preps would be to make sure you fill up your gas tank prior to the storm, however this past storm I was not expecting the amount of rainfall in such a short amount of time and was not expecting the gas stations to be empty. This taught me if I'm a prepper than I should always have a full tank because you never know. Expect the unexpected!
