I started playing Eve 2 days ago and today I was chased by a guy through 8 different systems in low sec (I started by being a industrial / miner) and it was one of the most thrilling experience of gameplay I had in like... a year lmao. And I know it's just the beggining, I already love this game and in a sense, i'm almost looking forward to see how I will lose my ship (I almost did) for the first time

Agree with the whole video.. although i think saying playing solo is playing wrong isnt the case.. i only play solo and i absolutely love learning to succeed on my own. I love being the slippery explorer in all parts of volatile space

Back when Warhammer Online was still alive a guy would randomly join our team speak now and then and play up recorded snippets of EVE online players and then leave.
We all got the impression that they must have been very special players in that game.

Surviving a highsec gank 1 jump from Jita in my badger, with 2.5bil in my hold and only 15% hull left... gets my blood pumping like no other games and that alone makes EvE fun for me. I wouldn't even be mad if I had lost it since I got lucky and I was careless but it was fun to see those tornados get murdered to death by Concord XD.

“Stop trying to solo EVE Online, this is not a solo game. Even if you’re a multi-boxer it is still better to have real people around you too … You are playing EVE wrong — if you want a solo online experience, EVE Online is not it.” 🤮

If I had an ISK for every time I’ve heard this! I’ve been playing EVE solo since 2013 (with some long breaks of course) and I love this game. There’s been absolutely nothing in EVE that I’ve ever wanted to do or accomplish that I haven’t been able to do because I was playing solo.

Also this:

“These are Truths. I don’t want to hear like your opinion that I’m wrong about this. Because categorically — I know it sounds arrogant, I really know this sounds arrogant — but in this case it’s true. These aren’t opinions, right? If you disagree with any of these points, that’s not your opinion man, that’s just you being wrong.”

Not arrogant at all! — just a wonderful example of misunderstanding truth, knowledge, facts, and opinions.

You may be playing EVE “right, ” but your epistemology is a train wreck! 🤣

Was that a challenge you issued at the beginning of the video? :)

I think you overlooked a truth about EVE Online that for you probably is very uncomfortable. While EVE may be a PvP game, PvE players pay the bills. Just look back to the summer and fall of 2019. During the Chaos Era CCP decided to make it easier for PvP-focused players to hunt by removing local in null sec. Once it was clear local wasn't coming back, so many "carebears" told CCP to go take a hike, unsubbed, and went to play WoW Classic. CCP quickly brought back local within a few weeks.

CCP's revenue really took a beating in the second half of 2019. In fact, you have to go back to 2008 to see CCP's yearly revenue below 2019's $51.1 million. And the financial records show it hasn't dipped to within 10% of that since.

CCP only went plus 2023 by cryptocurrency sale outside of Eve. Right now Eve is not profitable. It's a sinking ship, saved only by pearl abyss. While i don't think Eve should change its identity. It is clear that it struggles immensely to attract new players and retain returning ones. And that's counting in the effects of the ludicrous price hike of Omega.

The old dogs of EVE and CCP themself can resist change all they want. A large number of players want change, and there's a huge market out there to appeal to while still retaining the spirit off EVE and its niche. There's a large spectrum, not a binary scale in which EVE can evolve within.

Or CCP can remain Impervious to any and all change and in a few years i'll watch the Benzie youtube video about EVEs greatest moments before the server closed down... for good.

You are right, it's basic economics, things explode and get more expensive. Also, yeah EVE is a PVP niche full loot hardcore game and should keep being that way.
But I think many times when people are complaining about ganking they are not necessarily looking through that point of view or ignoring those very valid reasons that you are right about. (I also work in the games industry but I don't think that should weight on my reasoning being right or wrong, just consider my reasoning and not who I am)

We can increase costs pulling many levers on the economy and we can make the game risky in many ways.
The problem I see here is what levers and in what ways the game is 'dangerous'.

Making transport more costly will make things cost more, sure, BASIC ECONOMICS. But it's also basic economics knowing that the effect of costly/risky transport is going to be freezing people and assets in certain areas making many parts of space more empty because moving ends up not being worth it or too much of a hassle. We can increase costs in other ways so players move and make the universe more populated, making the game better with better content and also making people who like pvp search for more interesting and challenging content instead of camping a gate and "mining salt".

I think reducing any complaints about ganking as "waaaahh I am too bad! I like Sonic this game EVE is too hard for me", is making a bad faith simplification of a problem that is not so simple and easy to solve, proof of that is that we have many 10+ year veterans that still play and love EVE and are against ganking too.

'basic economics' is a term used frequently but economics is far from a simple subject and any change on any lever has a chain of effects that comes from it good and bad.

"This game was made for a very specific kind of person." That's refreshing to hear for once!

As a new playe, I set my sights on a sweet exploration ship. I mined for over a month to get the ISK to afford it, and I had to travel through low-sec to pick it up and fit it. On the eay back to my "home space" I was jumped and the brand new ship destroyed - and it wss the worst thing that ever happened to me.
I logged off in rage and despair and couldn't bring myself to log on for days after.
But after awhile, the pain subsided and I began thinking sttategically tathrr than emotionally. I realized that the worst had happened and it wasn't - actually - THAT bad.
It began to take its place as a learning experience.

The reason I enjoy this game is that Risk that you have because the game is at it's at it's core a pvp game. When go into a wormhole in an exploration ship, knowing my ship has no teeth and no tank, hitting Data and Relic sites and avoiding folks who are trying to kill me is EXCITING!! Look at other MMO's that are safe after EVE and I find myself getting so bored and start nodding off.

Nothing says that someone lacks the confidence in their arguments more than saying "don't argue with me bro, just trust that I'm right!". Especially odd to make that claim and then proceed to make a number of errors talking about economics and game design. A true high sec for those that wanted it, as well as providing a chill space for more PvP orientated players to occasionally just relax in would be fine. The opinions of gankers -- who make a big deal about "nowhere should be risk free" while trying to engage in what is some of the lowest risk gaming in EVE -- can safely be ignored.

Far too many sad acts playing EVE who think their version of fun should be the only acceptable method.

I love gankers trying to kill my abyssal ship only for their coercers to be greeted by my two alts brick tanked 1000 dps suicidal brutixes which promptly suicide gank their entire fleet of ganking coercers. Survive better, gank the ganker 😂😊 Not even gankers are safe!

I play Eve sporadically and I play it like a survival Game. Dayz in space. I play solo. How long can I survive. That’s my fun.

Someone or something must have triggered you bud.

Love the videos btw.

The best description I ever heard of Eve Online is "It's not the kind of game to smack the cookie from your hand. It's the kind of game to knock the cookie from your hand, grind it slowly into the dirt and then laugh at you while staring into your eyes."

i didnt see the other vids and i dont see a reason to call it high sec if its not and why would it ruin the game?
