Hi, I took your advice and put a set of Zyex Light tension on my hybrid bass. To say I didn't like them is an under statement.
I put my old (no-name strings) back on the bass until I could afford a set of Spirocore medium on the bass. WOW! now the bass sounds fantastic.

Thanks for doing the review.  I'm getting an itch to change my strings soon.  It's been about a year and a half.  How often do you think it's necessary to change the strings even if you like the ones that you use?

I like the way you walk. I perticularely like the way you use ghost notes. When you played that chromatic walk on the g string, I notice you swing these ghosts on the d string, am I right? How do you mute the d string, eh?

btw. lovely strings there! Hope they arenot much stiffer to play than my old flexocors.

Great job and service to the bass world sir.
Is there any video of your string test side by side to compare in real time? All of the test you've done are excellent, the same mic placement the same room( leave the reverb out though, every thing sound amazing with some echo.)
Thank you, Alan

Hi there, do you have any idea how the Zyex Light gauge compare to the Spirocore Weich in terms of gauge and string tension?why did you choose the light gauge instead of medium tension. Thanks, Alex.

I had the Zyex on my Upright (a Stadelmann copy) and i liked the sound, but E string was a little bit quiet. As you told, they are a good compromise. I later tried the pirazzis and liked them more. The sound is louder and it cuts through the mix (the first ca. 6 month of using) and the E string is great, too .

I have this Zyex strings installed on my bass for a year now. I have been using the Spirocore for a long time, but unfortunately the store didn't have it on stock back then. And the Spiros have became too expensive here in Indonesia. But they have this Zyex, so I gave it a try. Too be honest, although these strings do sounds good, I like the spiros better. For me, the spiros sounds warmer and growlier.
I have a question for you, have you tried the Presto Jazzicato? If you did, what do you think about it, compared to the Zyex?

Thanks for the review! Those are Zyex mediums or lights on this video?

Hi Geoff, thanks for the review. I terms of string tension, how would you compare them with the Evah Pirazzi Weich, which would you say have the lowest tension? Thanks.

Would you recommend the Zyex over Helicore? I've always thought the helicore gave a nice bright tone on my bass, while still holding the bottom end.

Hi Geoff,
how is the Sound of the Zyex after 2 weeks?
On my  (old germen) bass, i have played Spirocore light, Efrano, Innovation, Obligato, Helicore Hybrid Light,
Evah Pirazzi light and at the end i play now Spirocore light.
That is a lot of many and time, to go back to the roots...

I got a set of the Mediums(they're noticeably thinner than the Helicore med), they sound nice but the open A string is totally unresponsive to the bow(just getting a harmonic/accidental tone) :-\ Any ideas?

Is the bow response any quicker than the evahs, are they any louder?the reason I'm asking is I use the same bass for playing jazz and orchestral and I have trouble cutting through in an orchestral section but I don't want to raise my string height because I also play jazz

Hello Geoff,
I had heard opinions, that in Zyex set E string is more quiet, than the rest of the set.
Can you confirm/deny this information?

This is a bit off topic, but what bow and rosin did you use on this video?

This is almost exactly the sound I don’t want on an upright
