Katara is the best water bender in the whole show tbh. She’s just not shown as aggressive due to her personality, but if she were to fight, she would definitely have the upper hand. Her skills are too underrated

Socka’s tactical style reminds me of a toned down mentally stable Azula. Her tactical style was crazy. She was like a cat playing with a bird, Until she was bored and then killed it.

Plus Sokka and Katara are siblings who actually like eachother and get along for the most part, their unspoken teamwork would be key and both of them are extremely clever in seemingly hopeless situations.

Eska and Desna have an unspoken rivalry and each desire to be the perfect of the two twins. They're ferocious yes, but when the situation doesn't go in their favor they blame eachother

What people fail to realize is that she is literally a better water bender than Aang. Katara was literally Aangs Water Bending Master. She was so adept at blood bending that she saw how destructive she could be with it and chose to not rely on it and to actually outlaw it. A fight we will never see, but would be so cool is Katara vs the “no arms chick” from Korrah.

I like that even though Sokka was not a bender he was still a valuable member of the team with his own strength and story.

Katara was a natural waterbending talent refined to Mastery with effort and discipline. She played chess with her dueling opponents, pressuring their state until she moved to check mate. She was also adept at fending off multiple opponents, often looking to escape or balance the numbers game.

That's on her own. Sokka as a tactical genius opens up her mind to focus on technique and combat, listening for his input while making sure he isn't outmanuvered.

Against the twins she would play a defensive game while Sokka looked for weaknesses in their strategy. It stands to reason that this combo works in most match ups involving these two. Katara would have to be Incredibly out numbered by individuals of a comparable skill level each, but due to the conservation of ninjitsu we have never seen her so genuinely outmatched. Even under Ba Sing Sei she only chose escape when she was up against 2 comparable talents And a unit of mooks sharing jujitsu And Aang was mortally wounded.
