Again, putting emphasis on pilot errors at the end. Well, you could do that. But, please 1) explain the MCAS in the training manual, 2) add 'possible MCAS malfunction' onto runaway trim checklist, 3) include an indicator showing MCAS activities, and 4) add a dedicated kill switch for MCAS. Then, you FAA might have rights to point finger here. Just my 2

The first Mr. Graves is overlooking an important point. Regardless of published procedures, a pilot in distress may do whatever he believes might save the aircraft when the procedures are not sufficient. In both of these crashes, there was very little time to get the aircraft under control and using manual trim was too slow and difficult to save the aircraft.

He also fails to state that the the design of the aircraft must allow the pilots to fly the plane. In these crashes, the MCAS took control of the aircraft’s pitch control and it was not within the power of the pilots to save the aircraft in the limited time available.

FAA how much did Boeing pay you guys??

I like Mr. DeFazio’s opening statement. That’s exactly how Congress should speak to the incompetent people at the FAA and Boeing who allowed this to happen.

The "pilot error" to blame submission dies when the redundant systems (pilots) are not aware of 1) The disagree light not being functional - (optional package?) 2) Critical system self certification knowingly by Boeing without redundancy. 3) Training and manuals not representative of actual conditions that could be experienced.

the 737 MAX has a power plant - air frame mismatch which makes an unstable aircraft and it cannot be corrected by an onboard computer and software program inflight.

The second Mr. Graves said “I do know the FAA is in good hands.” He is wrong. It is already clear from Mr. Elwell’s public statements that he is unfit to lead the FAA. He said “We certified it, therefore it is safe.” In other words, he believes he cannot make mistakes, yet he did certify an unsafe aircraft. He needs to go in order to restore confidence in the FAA.

okay okay I hear you. The Max variant made 57, 000 flights in the U.S. with 0 fatality. Boeing 737 Max is a safe plane to fly in U.S. and the U.S. only. For the rest of the world, your statistics for 737 Max variant doesn't bode well with 346 fatalities attributed to pilot inadequacy. You are better off with a more suitable plane.

The first step in trying to restore the credibility of the FAA should be to dump Elwell.

So you are blaiming the pilots. Come On. The accident was 6 minutes after take off. This is insulating. Ethiopian airlines is one of the best airlines in the world. This is another low.

1. Why are they all "Mr" is this not somehow tautological? Would it not be more informative to use their first name?
2. Would it not be informative to question a pilot rated on both the Max and the Airbus (suggest QANTAS - the safest airline in the world) and get their opinion on the use of but one AOA sensor, and then NOT display it on the Poverty Pack, and then the Airbus with three, displayed one to each pilot, with a THIRD available in case of AOA disagreement?

Then there's the comment of the USA "gold standard" in safety, WTF? USA exceptionalism....

Test flight with eventual configuration of a rolled off Boeing aircraft and the factor in of the Sky_Married2One rule. Announces emergence (rise) of new improved style Boeing 737 Max airliner. The sky is happy to marry aircraft where man (pilot) and machine are one (in sync). Rejects anything resultant of corrupt practice. To recuperate confidence in stakeholder and flying public alike. Aviation engineering is no room for error or fixit scenarios. Fine industry is fine engineering is MAGA industry!
