I love the goofy old puppets in this. The way they are lit and shot is so great. I will take them over the bad CGI dinosaurs in low-budget sci fi movies any day.

I agree. I saw this on tv late one night and became a massive fan. It would be so great to have a modern day big budget remake. Its a fantastic story.

The Edgar R. Burroughs novels would make a nice film/TV series.

I went to see this when I was a kid at the Elephant & Castle Cinema, Old Kent Road....Most of the seats had been kicked in. A gang came in through the exit door and sat behind us...and this girl started kicking the back of my seat...I'm like 11 she's about 21...I said to my mate "lets move"..she grabbed me round the throat and said.".Are you going to call the manager..if you do..I'll throw your head through that f**king screen"...I was always more scared of the people in the cinema then the movies....

An interesting film, this one. If it isn't based on something written by Edgar Rice Burroughs, then the author of the story was someone in his vein. The whole set-up of Caprona and how life worked there is very strange, and speaks of someone utterly enchanted with the idea of evolution, but who hadn't grasped what it was all about. Though the film was made in the mid 1970's, it retains the atmosphere of something written in the Victorian/Edwardian era, with all its prejudices openly displayed.
What is most intriguing is the film's idea that, every so often, the land's volcanoes erupt and obliterate all living things across the continent, a mass extinction in miniature. Little could the author of the story, and the film makers, have known that their dramatic ending, with regards to certain real events, might not have been so far from the truth after all!

In The Land That Time Forgot i don't know why the human characters shoot the dinosaurs to death and blow them up with cannons even if the dinosaurs are just standing around doing nothing
