Its not made for a specific demographic
Its made to be the opposite of abyss

Abyss is an investment check in quality, as long as you have 2 very good teams youll always clear abyss, so whats the point of building more or getting new characters when u can alr no diff abyss with your overbuilt characters

Imaginarium theatre goes the other way, investment check in quantity, it motivates you to get more new characters and build a more diverse roster than just what u need for abyss

That's the point of imaginarium theather, i guess. Spiral abyss is to test your build and damage. but imaginarium theater is to see your investment on you character. so the more you lvl up your character, talent, weapon and artifact, the easier it would be.

As someone who doesn’t even try floor twelve anymore because it’s just not worth the primos, I do quite like the theatre event. However, I agree that newer or even some casual players will struggle because of the sheer number of characters you have to have built well, not to mention the element selection too. I think Honkai Star Rail did great with the new simulated universe, where all your obtained characters are raised to the difficulty level. That way you can test out who you like to play before investing so many materials in them.

(And before someone says it, idc if not clearing floor 12 is a skill issue. It’s not fun for me and I can clear everything else on world level 8 just fine.)

Its called end game content for a reason. Its for lategame players, the gamemode was made to motivate players to level up more characters.

I think this is the real endgame content. Endgame players usually have nothing to do, they end up building unused char. With this game mode, they could try their side char.
If you can't clear this, means you are not really endgame player. Maybe there are still something to do beside strugle doing this.
They even increase abyss reward from 600 to 800
If you can clear floor 12, and plus doing medium dif in IT, it give same amount of primos just like double abyss per month.

Imaginarium based on what the game's description is, is basically like a test run of your characters, if you can clear it with whatever characters have left

I just loved the Imaginarium Theater for one reason: seeing people who don't build their characters complaining. I know a guy who only plays with the same 2 teams for everything and only wishes for the same 5 star characters. He just complained about Imaginarium Theater and didn't even try it because of this. I only accept someone complaining about the game mode if they are new players

I think this is a perspective issue. To me, this seems like a mode that encourages new players to collect as many characters as possible. For engame players it's a kind of reward game mode for all the work that went into collecting and building their characters over the years. Maybe it can even let them try characters that they've been hesitant to play because they don't want to build them. I'm not sure if this was Hoyo's intention when creating the mode, but it's way more fun when you look at it like this.

The abyss if basically for damage output while imaginarium is team composition… in a way they both complement eachother
