Este poema es "Alfonsina y el mar", escrito por Félix Luna y musicalizado por Ariel Ramírez en 1950. Fue inspirado por la trágica muerte de la poetisa y escritora argentina Alfonsina Storni, quien se suicidó arrojándose al mar en Mar del Plata en 1938. El poema retrata la partida de Alfonsina hacia la muerte, personificando el mar como un amante que la atrae hacia sí. La letra es muy emotiva y ha sido interpretada por muchos artistas famosos en todo el mundo.

Lloro de emoción cada que veo y escucho ésta interpretación de Alfonsina y el mar que a mi juicio es la mejor que he escuchado. Rita y Elisabeth me hacen emocionar siempre hasta las lágrimas, Elisabeth sin saberlo siempre me hace querer retornar a la guitarra con la que me peleo por temporadas, su ejecución impecable y excelsa me hace querer intentar hacer lo mismo... Que solidez, que pulcritud, que perfección! Elisabeth debería ser uno de los máximos referentes de como se debe ejecutar en su máxima expresión de perfección éste instrumento maravilloso. Quizás están en el top 3 de las mayores joyas musicales que me haya encontrado en toda la vida, que hermoso todo lo que hacen. Larga vida a Rita y Elisabeth!

"Alfonsina y el mar" ("Alfonsina and the Sea"), composed and written by Ariel Ramírez and Félix Luna, is inspired by the tragic death of the Argentine poet Alfonsina Storni. In 1935, Storni discovered a lump on her left breast and decided to undergo a radical mastectomy operation.
But in 1938 the cancer had reappeared. 25 October 1938 Storni left her room in the morning, headed towards the sea at La Perla beach in Mar del Plata, Argentina, and died by suicide. Later that morning her body washed up on the beach. Although her biographers hold that she jumped into the water from a breakwater, popular legend is that she slowly walked out to sea until she drowned.
